About Me

I've had a bunch of careers/jobs; everything from chef to cemetary worker, dressing runway models to sorting soiled linens at the bottom of the Kaiser Hospital laundry chute, orchestral trumpeter to talk radio host & jazz DJ but throughout the thread has always been filmmaking & photography. From about age three I began helping my Dad in the darkroom and with the construction of his short films. By 7th grade I began making my own films and at 16 was working on my first 16mm documentary that ended up being part of the environmental science curricula in high-schools all over the US. While getting my film degree I was fortunate enough to study directing with Edward Dmytryk. I spent 10 years in Hollywood that was split between production and the music industry (I received a Platinum Album for "We Are the World"). I finally narrowed my focus to primarily art & props for film.

My Interests

World travel, sailing, back-packing, motorcycling, urban bicycling, rafting, movies, cooking, being on stage, pranks, my cats, photography, art etc. I've been described by friends as a modern day Zelig since my life has been primarily anecdotal; either I've been in a lot of interesting situations or I remember them in an intersting way.

I'd like to meet:

Not sure who else I want to meet since I've already met Buckminster Fuller, Ken Kesey, G. Gordon Liddy, Joe Hunt (Billionaire Boys Club), Minnesota Fats, Charles Mingus, Buddy Rich, Peter Townshend, Keith Moon, John Entwhistle, Frank Zappa, Don Van Vliet (Capt. Beefheart), James Brown, Gary Lewis, Kenny Rogers, Isaac Hayes, Lionel Ritchie, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Cleo Laine & John Dankworth, Dolly Parton, Susan Anton, Nancy Sinatra, Rodney Bingenheimer, John Doe, Exene, Art Pepper, Walter Wanderley, Tito & Marlon Jackson, Cyndy Lauper, Dan Ackroyd & Donna Dixon, Al Jarreau, Quincy Jones, Henry Mancini, Kim Carnes, Maurice Jarre, Nastassja Kinski, Peggy Lipton, Jayne Mansfield, Patrick Macnee, Harry Dean Stanton, Frank Gorshin, Paula Prentiss, Suzanne Pleschette, Walter Lantz, Frank Capra Jr., Robert Benton, Joseph Wambaugh, Tippy Hedron, Alicia Witt, Jodi Watley, Melanie Griffith, Lara Flynn Boyle, Hayden Panetierre, Lela Rochon, Sean Young, Heather Graham, Drew Barrymore, Maria Bello, Elke Sommer, Robert Foxworth & Elizabeth Montgomery, James Woods, Heather Locklear, Joan Collins, Linda Evans, Richard Dreyfuss, Chris Rock, William H. Macy, Kevin Costner, Olivia Williams, Sven Nykvist, Gloria Swanson and David Lynch.

Music:

I've been playing in the infamous TuTu Band ( www.tutuband.com ) since I was a sophomore in high school. I'm not a fan of whiney, complainy music or hip-hop or country. My tastes run the gamut from ethnic pop to classical to swing to Zappa to Mancini to techno to jazz. I've had the good fortune to study with Maynard Ferguson, Don Ellis, Elvin Jones, Stan Kenton, Doc Severinsen, Woody Herman and once I even got the chance to vocally trade fours with Dizzy Gilespie.
