Yan Weynn Biography Born in Coco Salinas, Puerto Rico, Yan Weynn struggled economically as a young boy and was encouraged by his grandparents to explore his artistic abilities. At the age of six, he joined a group called “Los Angelitos” (“Little Angels”) and taught himself to play the drums. At 13, Yan Weynn moved to Boston with his biological father and joined a group called, H.O.P.E., when a fresh, new Latin music movement captivated him, known as reggaeton. Those days were a turning point for Yan Weynn and he began performing wherever he could, at local festivals, private parties and radio shows.As a young boy Yan Weynn always wanted to be a singer in the spotlight. “I remember, rapping while waiting for the train on my way to school and before I knew it, 40-50 kids were standing around me just listening to my flow,” he says.His unique vocabulary and street infused rhymes have gained him recognition. His new summer hit, “Amigos” featuring Huey Dunbar of formerly DLG, has gotten heavy rotation in the radio stations in Miami. “Amigos” has been on Mega 94.9 and El Zol 95.7 top 10 songs for several weeks. Miami can’t get enough of him. The single “Amigos” has reached out to the salsa listeners and came out in a compilation, called Latino 19 with Planet Records in Europe. “Amigos” is also on Promo Only for the month of July 07’ (Tropical & Caribbean).The particular CD called Promo Only goes out to all the hottest DJ’s nationwide.Yan Weynn is an enthusiast when it comes time to writing lyrics for his songs. He has worked with award winning producer, Emilio Estefan. “He is my mentor and I as an artist, respect Emilio immensely for the way he is able to take music to the next level,” he says.Along the way he has worked with renowned producer, Tony Mardini and collaborated with the internationally recognized Gaitan Brothers and written songs for up and coming Mexican singer, Jimena. He is featured on one of her tracks, called “Que Onda Guey,” on her album “Volar Sin Alas”.Yan Weynn has several hot ringtones with Sprint and a jingle on a cingular commercial. He has also worked with current Bad Boy Latino artist, Cristian Daniel. Yan Weynn is featured on an upbeat tropical song “Ese tu carino,” one of the songs on Christian Daniel’s debut album, “Christian”.Even though he is always willing to recreate himself, he is committed to his cultural roots.He has spent several months in Puerto Rico working on his album with several recognized producers, such as Marioso and Eliot from FLOW MUSIC. FLOW MUSIC is a well known label where many artist have worked such as Calle 13 and Tego Calderon.Currently, he is cooking up a storm with well known producer MEKKA from Goldstar Music. “I am ecstatic to be working on my album, I have put all my heart into this one” says Yan Weynn.He just finished his first video shoot for the new dancehall hit “Hola Q Tal”. “The video is very sexy and the song, well it speaks for itself,” says Yan Weynn.“Ladies and Gentlemen look out for my album in stores soon!” says Yan Weynn.
