In winter 2001/2002 the three members of a swiss punkabilly band called "Fishnet Stockings" get to hear a band called "Me First And The Gimme Gimmes". The "Gimmes" play punkrock versions of old fifties and sixties classics such as "Blowin' in the wind" or "Sloop John B.". Pat, Sagi and Tosi thought, it was a great idea to do the same thing with old swiss folk and pop songs. Just a few weeks later, they teamed up with their roadie Urs to form a new group called "QL" (say "cool"). They recorded a 4-track demo and sent it out to record companies and dj's around the country. At first they received no positive answer. Just when they finished recording their first album on their own, BMG Ariola called the band to sign a contract with them. After more than 600 concerts including tours in the USA, Australia and all of Europe, Pat, Sgi and Tosi decide to stop their band "Fishnet Stockings" to invest all their energy into the new band QL!Six months later, in january 2004, QL released their first album "Heimatschutz" ("preservation of regional tradition"). Due to a very strong mouth to mouth propaganda, as well as a little bit of airplay, "Heimatschutz" entered the official swiss album charts at number 6! It remained in the top 10 for 8 weeks and dropped out of the top 100 after 35 weeks! The boys toured extensively and played most of the major open air festivals in the german part of Switzerland! "Heimatschutz" sold 34'000 copies in a country with about 4 million people who speak the swiss-german language!! It reached gold status (for twenty thousand copies sold) after only 4 months! Since then, QL have released a single, another album, played more than 170 Shows in front of 250'000 people!
