With a love and passion of music, what started just as a hobby was not long discovered to be a natural talent for him. With many years of experience this high energy, ambitious individual has established himself as a pioneer DJ who stands alone with his unique blend of music and who believes he was born with music in his heart. His first vinyl collection started with the classics and house music. After playing music for countless house parties, family Bar-B-Q’s, fashion shows and birthday parties events he decided to take his talent to the Jersey club scene to seek out a larger crowd venue. In 1987 his goal was accomplished by landing a gig at Club Cosmos in Irvington. At that time house music was very popular in jersey and at every chance he could get he would stop everything just to listen to his DJ mentor Tony Humphries on the radio. Years later in 1990 he worked his way into Club 88 in East Orange and under the guidance of then resident D.J. Lionel Burt is where he learned most of his mixing techniques. After Club 88 and with a large request from music lovers DJ Hot Rod spent most of his time starting his own mix tape production company in an attempt to bring people closer to the music, which was later named Nubian Impact Productionsâ. In 1997 he then played music for Club Bogies in East Orange as their resident DJ. While at Bogies he called on long time DJ/Friend David Davis to join him in giving the people the sounds they wanted and needed. The most memorable moment for him at bogies was when he personally met the legendary singers Gwen Guthrie just before she pasted away and Ted Mills (formerly led singer of Blue Magic). Since the year 2000 and to this current date he still holds the DJ position for New Jersey longest running original social event First Fridays. Also filling in guess slots at such places as Caribbean International in Orange, Ruthies Supper Club in Jersey City and The Cave in Newark.In today’s society many DJs have come and have gone. Till this day DJ Hot Rod is still striving to capture the listening ears of many. Should you ever encounter the magic touch he has with the turntables.
