Fiction, Victorian novels, Latin American fiction, post-modern novels, philosophy. My favorite authors: Joan Didion (especially "Play as it Lays"-I've read it about 10 times), Flannery O' Connor ("Wise Blood"-dark humour and bizarreness that I like), Sandra Cisneros, Milan Kundera ("The Unbearable Lightness of Being"--I'm a mix of heavy and light myself), Bret Easton Ellis ("Less than Zero"),Marguerite Duras ("The Lover", "The Sea Wall"-heavy stuff), Charles Portis ("Dog of the South"-Hilarious!),Garcia Marquez, Mario Vargas Llosa & others. I love Tolstoy's short stories and the irony in them like "How Much Land Does a Man Need". Two of my favorite books are Somerset Maugham's "Of Human Bondage" and Vargas Llosa's "Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter"-funny. I also read a lot of children's books and Young Adult Novels. I love old classics like Winnie-the-Pooh (I'm Eeyore sometimes), Pippi Longstocking, and S.E. Hinton ("That was Then, This is Now" & "The Outsiders"). I used to read Mary Gaitskill and Darcey Steinke ("Suicide Blonde"-strange) & Elfriede Jelinek, all post-feminist (I would say) writers.
