Starting towards the end of 2005, Fred and Shamit would occasionally hang out. The two eventually started to jam together. Soon after, Danny joined in their jam sessions. Jams occured more and more often. To start a band however, they needed a drummer. Enter Steve. One day Steve came to a jam consisting of Fred and Shamit, and they were sold. The group officially reached band status. Throughout 2006, the group played together, starting out with just covers, then working their way into composing their own songs. They went by the name of Owl Slut at first (as a joke inspired by No Allegiance), soon changed to Boston Bloodbath. Eventually, the name had changed to Blacktooth Grin, after a suggestion by Danny.
