About Me

A dynamic combination of aggression and passion for metal came together to form Stalingrad (name derived from a WWII battle with most casualties ever recorded in a single engagement). This group of four is creating some of the most spine-shattering music in Toronto. After coming together in 2005, Stalingrad has finished their self-titled debut album, which is kicking off with the single State of Hypocrisy.
Using their life experiences as motivation, lead singer Zeeshan Raheel, better known as Zee, writes some of the most controversial lyrics while guitarist Anton Poverennov orchestrates the music. Each one has found love for metal early in their lives and never looked back. While living and jamming together in the GTA, they decided they wanted to do music professionally. After several attempts to find the right group to join, the two gave up and after a short hiatus decided to form their own band with their own unique vision. Following auditions of several drummers, a suitable candidate has been found. After going through a revolving door of bassists, the band finally managed to fill the position permanently, only to restart the search several months later. This time the hunt was short as Stalingrad's session bassist Adrian Cameron quickly accepted the full time position. Due to musical and personal differences, Mark Seeley took over the drumming duties in February 2007.
With their diverse backgrounds, Stalingrad finally found a middle ground, where they learned to mix their lyrics with hard hitting metal instrumentals. Their creations are influences by heavy metal heroes like Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth and Arch Enemy.

With great talent and similar vision, the debut album is dynamic and innovative. Having realized their potential, and honed their image, Stalingrad is ready to take off.
