***RJ Designs has now become Collections by RJ***Richard James Rivera (RJ), creator of Collections by RJ has been interested in fashion and designing as far back as he remembers. It has been a huge passion of his to watch the red carpet events and visualize the beauty and glamour that surrounds him to create his own ideas from there. After many years working in the industry his dream of becoming a designer became a reality in 2006 when he created RJ Jeans a new line of industrial denim jeans for men and women with a black wash over a white wash style.RJ began promoting his jeans while working with other designers around the San Francisco Bay Area and networked his way into the San Francisco fashion scene. From there he worked in many local fashion shows and with each show began creating more, until now, where he has begun working on brand new collections for both men and women.This year RJ has gone back to the drawing board and has started to promote some of his newest collections such as RJ Latino, a collection dedicated to his Latino roots and American surroundings, RJ Street Kid, a collection of Japanese harujuku style combined with American street fashion, RJ Latina, a female version of RJ Latino and many more collections are in the works.RJ has stuck by his Latin roots and it has helped him to become more noticed, as RJ Latino has taken off throughout the industry, as well as in the Latino community. “Latinos are a family and that’s what’s brought me to this point in life. The strong support of my family, the desire to make something of myself and to make my family proud is what keeps me going every day. I feel it’s my duty in life to give back as a way of thanking my family for giving me the opportunity to have a better life and in this way I feel I can give back.”Although Collections by RJ strongly features a Latin influence, there are many different styles of clothing beyond the Latin flare such as, rock, urban, casual wear, plus size, couture and evening wear, a little something for every one of all shapes, sizes and styles. “I wanted to create a little something for everyone, since we all are different shapes and sizes.”Collections by RJ is just beginning and there is a lot more in store. Many changes have already begun and there are many more collections to be created, many more designs to become reality and many more of RJ’s dreams to come true.
