"The Cowboy Capitol of the World"
In June of 2007, I began this "made for web" video series about the history of this small town where I live and that I have grown to love. Oakdale, California is know as the "Cowboy Capitol of the World". there are a few other citys arond the Country make the same claim. According to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, RODEO (as we know it today) was born right here in this little town. Explore some history, and meet some of the great people that make Oakdale, California the "Cowboy Capitol of the World". You can subscribe to the series on YouTube at: www.youtube.com/oakdalekev for updates to this on going project. I hope you enjoy it.

Episode #3: Over 50 years ago, a small group of working cowboys set out to create a roping event to prove their skills in competion. It would be a ten steer avrage and They adjusted the rules slightly to better suite real ranch conditions. Untill then Team roping was only popular in California, Oregon, Southern Washington, and Western Idaho. Now these NEW rules have made Team Roping one of the most popular rodeo events in the Nation. It all started here in Oakdale.
Episode #4: The Oakdale Cowboy Museum celebrates 10 years and honors the founding board members at an annual dinner and auction. Actor, Wilford Brimley is the guest speaker. Lots of fun that night as the past is honored, and a vision for the future is layed out. There are 5 parts to this video set.
