I was born and still live in Stuttgart, Germany. From my first viewing of Stanley Kubricks '2001 - A Space Odyssey' on, the world of fantastic movies never let go of me. I did my first monster-movies at the age of 12 with our brand new hi8-camera. I also tried out doing animation films with 4 frames a second using all my best toys. After doing a short parody of the Die Hard movies, ending with a rainy fist-fight on the rooftop on our house, I decided I was good at filmmaking and had to become a director. Quite naive at that time (1995) I pursued that wish ever since. I did more movies at the time, when other kids learned mathematics or played in the soccer-team. In the last years at school I also discovered my second passion: DJing. Since my mother was a musician it was not out the question that I was blessed with some feel for rhythm. After school I organized partys in stuttgart at a club called 'inner rhythm club'. I did my year in civil service and then, without concidering anything else, whent on, to get more experience in moviemaking. I started as a runner, working in numerous films, mainly student-films from the 'Filmakademie Baden-W..rttemberg'. I knew since my time at school, that this academie was one of the best filmschools in germany. And it was not far from where I lived. So it was early my goal to study as a movie director at that school. After working my way up on several movie-sets, studying lots of books about writing, directiong and everything connected with moviemaking, I finally got admitted at the 'Filmakademie' on my second try (autumn 2003). The good thing in germany, this is a state school, so no money has to be payed. It is an honour to get the chance and be one of only 7 to get selected for studying 'Directing feature movies'. The direction for my own movies is clear: I see movies as big adventures, creating worlds where you live through emotions, stronger and wider than in day-to-day live. I try to combine believeable character-drama with thrilling suspence, a good portion of action, a lot of mystery and an important theme, may it be a political or about life in general... This summer (2006) im just finishing "Das Leuchten" (or english Title: "Watch the Skies", a 30 minutes science-ficiton thriller, taking place in a future, where war is on our dorstep and everyone has to take care for the safety of his own family. Main character is the twelfe year old Alex, whose father refuses to buy a new shelter, which would grant them safety in the case of an air-bombing by hostile forces. After the first real attack on their city, Alex is on his own, to find a place where he will be safe. In this next day he will find out, what the attacks are all about and get in greater danger, than he could ever imagine... This short is shot on HD and will incorporate numerous visual effects shots, to bring the near future to life... Besides making movies I am sometimes heard as DJ Kryzm, putting up the music at some of Stuttgarts nicer HipHop Clubs ;-)
