JuliStar says "In 1998, I didnt know anyone affected by this horrible disease. Last year, I wish I could say that is true. Sadly, I lost my best friend to this devastating disease. Truth be told, he would have lived if hed only taken care of himself and sought medical attention earlier. He could have survived and continued to sparkle, had he been proactive about his condition earlier on. However, fear and denial took over. I do not want anyone else to have to go through what Rion, his family and his friends have had to go through."
There is no reason people are still contracting, and dying of this disease. We need to do what we can to stop this. As long as it continues, however, we hope to educate people in the community from first hand knowledge what can happen if you dont take the necessary steps!!
When our best friend Rion lost his short-lived battle with AIDS on March 2, 2005, he was only 30 years old. He was diagnosed with PML, a rare infection in his brain that caused paralysis and loss of vision, among other effects, and his system was not strong enough to fight it. When he was diagnosed, his T-Cell count was already so low; there was not much chance for recovery. AIDS Healthcare Foundation, APLA and many other non-profit agencies in LA played active roles in his life - as he was one of many without health insurance and without financial stability.
Unfortunately, Rion passed away March 2, 2005. Team Superstars have dedicated themselves to fight this disease YEAR ROUND by actively raising money that will be used to educate, counsel and assist those stricken with this disease.
Rion will always remain our SUPERSTAR, and is deeply missed. Rion touched so many lives while he was with us, and with our help he will continue to effect many more with his passing.
Please tell your friends about the Superstars - together we can make a HUGE difference and have tons of fun doing it!!!!!!!!!!!
