A young child from a pressed single parent home, Stephanie helped her Mom and sister care for each other while growing up on the windy plains in the West Texas city of “Lubbock.†Although they were short on money, there was never a shortage of love in their house. Stephanie’s Mother worked at the local hospital and Stephanie would always entertain her family with new songs that she would learn from listening to her favorites on the local FM. During her teen years, even though her Mom insisted that it was lights out by nine PM, Stephanie would tune out to her daytime favorites of Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, and then liked to listen to country radio and on the weekend nights tune into the far reaching and always AM crackling broadcast of the “Grand Ole Opry,†as she would discreetly enjoy the live sounds of Dolly Parton, Reba, Terri Clark, and Martina on into those wee hours. It seemed a little tough to get up and go to church on Sunday mornings following a late night of listening to the Saturday night “Opry,†but she still managed to arise and to sing the featured songs during those early sunrise services as well as helping to place the table for the weekly Sunday afternoon family dinner.Upon Jr. High School, her singing/entertaining took stage at talent shows and school functions. Stephanie exploded into popularity during high school as she began conducting choreography for cheerleading and hip-hop dance companies. She grew in popularity at some of the area hotels that featured weekly bands as she was a regular sit-in singer/artist. Stephanie says about those days, “My Mom had to accompany me because I was under age, but it was worth the wait when they would call to the stage and the music and lyrics would connect us all.†Stephanie’s teen years found her earning extra money in a local recording studio. Her voice blended true pitched, strong, and sweetly for background vocals on the country cuts, as well as lead vocals for a few Lubbock country songwriters. By the age of 17, she had already developed a true love for singing country songs. Stephanie recalled one evening waiting outside the studio for her Mom to pick her up and take her home, “I stood there looking at the statue of Buddy Holly and decided that if Lubbock’s son could find success in music, than so can I!â€Stephanie looks back with great pride and love for her Mom, Dad, and sister, and her early personal achievements. Nowadays she, being in her early twenties, entertains weekly at Toby Keith’s “I Love This Bar and Grill†on “The Strip†inside Harrah’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada for approximately 1000 fans per night. Stephanie was in the top five finalists on CMT’s nationally televised “Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search†that aired in 2007 and boasted a viewing audience of approximately 24 million per show. Stephanie performed on CMT’s program for several weeks. One of the bands that feature her in Las Vegas introduces her as “The first lady†of “Toby Keith’s.†Stephanie genuinely is one of those rare breeds of people who have a personal work ethic, humility, and the dedication to attain all of her goals and dreams.
