About Me

hard-fucking-core!and practising boldness

My Interests

rollergirls and roller derby!

I'd like to meet:

those who will feed me

Music:

always - silence makes me feel crazy. joy division, asian dub foundation, my bloody valentine, bikini kill, jesus lizard, songs ohia, clash, gits, my morning jacket, lunachicks, booty rap, kenny rogers, cbc radio, bbc radio, citr, duran duran, mongoose, vancougar, ladyhawk just make me feel better. can you believe I only recently discovered crazy train (and it is genius!)? new year's resolution, iron maiden, of course (why didn't I know for so long?). lady sovereign - wow! ch-ching! the cinch, xiu xiu, the go team are newish discoveries for me. and neko case, MIA, buzzcocks, black flag,

Movies:

sure, I like movies, but forget them almost immediately. anything bruce lee, the omen, the exorcist, to die for, romy and michelle's blahblah. disaster movies of the 70s, contemporary disaster movies, medical experimental, post-apocalyptic wastelands. linda linda linda (very cute), the fabulous stains (amazing). really want to see beowulf and grendel. the talented mr. ripley,

Television:

I've become addicted to What Not to Wear (there's more of you out there, admit it!) and Stacy has become my new hero. My addiction's waned. Looks like Heroes has taken over.

Books:

lately some good ones like venus as a boy, the bell jar (sylvia plath was so ahead of her time), like the red panda (in the tradition of bell jar, but while she's in high school-and make sure you've got friends who'll tell you to stop reading it and get out and have drinks with them instead), midnight's children, fall on your knees, god of small things, jonathan strange & mr norrell; just read an arctic adventure/geopolitical/medical myster/thriller called The Trudeau Vector. It's great! very exciting. Set in an arctic research facility. Reminded me how much I like disaster movies..... Go find The End of Mr Y - it's amazing, with sex, time travel, quantum physics, philosophy....you hafta read it. I've been reading YA sci-fi/fantasy stuff too, can't seem to stay away from it, it's just so entertaining and easy to read.

Heroes:

bursitis?!?!

Bursitis? Who gets bursitis? Well, I guess I do. And it's the most excruciatingly painful thing I've ever experienced in my life! So suprising how much it hurts. Came on after a wicked roller practice...

throw me for a loop

I found a Google surprise just now. Googling myself (for a school project - records management, if you can believe) and found a very old friend Meezan (we go way, way back, junior high, maybe elementa...

work anxiety

Can you believe I had work anxiety the other night and dreamed that my boss (not actually my boss, the owner) read what I wrote about the workings of the publishing and bookselling worlds an...

sick of it

So. Sitting here trying not to get busted for blogging at work. I am sick of sales, business, the corporate world. And I have only a tiny tiny part of it. I'm a lowly sales ass at a book publisher (th...

loving my cat (promise I won't become a crazy cat lady, at least not for a bunch more years)

There's not a lot that's better than head-butts from your cat, purring purring purring, kneading kneading kneading, even if he is kinda old and lights himself on fire occasionally when he ignores the ...

goodbye old friend

At last our long relationship has come to an end. We've hit a train, a concrete block or three, a couple cars, and survived to tell the tale. We've been to Lethbridge, Braelorn, Meagher Creek hot...

and forgiveness

So, my friend Heather suggested that 2006 be "the year of forgiveness." The details of the situation and the persons involved aren't important, but it's a matter of principals (isn't there a song (and...

contemplation

Crapulent. It's only today that I'm starting to feel better, after almost a week of crapulence. Was it a couple too many vodka-soda-lime doubles, too fast, with too little food? Was it a stomach flu? ...

nerdiness rocks

the other nite I made the acquaintance of a super-nerdy funny dude, at the anza open mic of all places  - he sported a mullet and flashed me the spock "live long and prosper" hand signal - and no...
