i live in ames with my husband, luke, and our excellent dog, sasha. we got married in october of 2005 and bought our house a few years ago. i work in a library. living in a college town and not being a college student is kind of weird, and something i never really pictured myself doing, but ames is a really nice place to live, for iowa, and we will probably be staying here for a while. or at least until budget cuts eliminate all university jobs. im a vegetarian libertarian. im very into 1940s, 50s, and 60s american culture and i think i was born 50 years too late. my dream car is a black 1950 ford coupe. with air conditioning.
i love antique stores, thrift stores, antique malls, flea markets, estate auctions and sales. on the weekends you can usually find my husband and me at auctions in the small towns around where we live, buying things for our home and our own collections from the 1940s-early 1960s. i collect vintage pottery, aprons, serving trays, fiestaware, planters, chenile bedspreads, ephemera, costume jewelry, and kitchenware. mostly stuff from the 1950s, my favorite decade. i love to cook, bake, have parties, play with my dog, watch movies, watch "how it's made," go on picnics, try new restaurants, and my dream is to some day own my own gift boutique or bakery. candy is my biggest weakness. i dont like winter, onions, the color orange, or stupid people. i think my family is the best and miss them all the time. i wish they lived closer to me.
