About Me

Yanghwa-The video (1 of 3) {collection of motion}+"His sound and the compositions are unique and the playing is flawless. Trinidad, originally from Brighton, Colorado, and trained in classical/jazz music at The University of Colorado at Denver and Boulder from which he has recived his Bachealors degree in Music Business and Music Performance and a Masters degree in Education and Jazz Studies. Trinidad comes from a family of professional musicians. As he grew up his tastes changed and Trinidad geared himself more towards the jazzier side of music. Trinidad displays an amazing talent for composition. Each of the tracks on Invention are outstanding. His wondrous imagination shows through in his settings that he has chosen for each piece. And the musicits amazing. Influences such as ECM jazz, Latin beats and touches of notes from his free jazz liven up each composition and creates a unique feel for each and every track. The two most impressive tracks on Invention, On this day and Invention,. Both of these tracks are worth listening to numerous times. His trio, comprised of Denver based musicians is both creative and energetic and complement his compositions perfectly. Trinidad's fellow musicians, each with a lengthy and impressive resume, bring an individual style to the group and bring the music to a level that is rarely shown on a debut release. Joshua Trinidad is changing the way music is both composed and performed."- Jazz Standard Magazine 2005"Jazz is something most artists get better at as they grow older, accumulate experiences and learn to translate their souls into sound. At the tender age of 23, Joshua Trinidad already has an incredible head start. Invention, his debut as a leader, is an adventurous disc that filters melody and introspection through the feverish, unchecked energy of an amateur. Trinidad clearly possesses chops, though, as well as a clear sense of history. The specter of Miles Davis looms over the rookie trumpeter, an inescapable influence on his long, wandering and echo-drenched lines. But Trinidad also excels as a leader by picking simpatico (although uncredited) sidemen and material; Wayne Shorter's "Footprints" is interpreted faithfully enough to pay homage, while Trinidad's own "On This Day" bounds mischievously from Latin pulse to nearly psychedelic free-blowing. Invention lives up to its title and shows Trinidad to be a young jazzman of immense promise."-Westword 2006*Joshua Trinidad - Next thing in jazz "Feb. 29th 2004 - Trumpeter. No musician on today's scene has kept alive the spirit of the after hours jam session and the cutting contest as vigorously as Joshua Trinidad. An aggressive, brilliant trumpeter, with a charming, relaxed stage manner. Born in Colorado, and now a feature of the Denver music scene, he made his major label debut at 19. As well as fronting a regular quintet he also leads a big band packed with the cream of Denver's younger talent. Joshua Trinidad is a hard bop-oriented "Young Lion." A fine straight-ahead player who does not sound overly influenced by any of his predecessors." Jazzreview.com. Joshua Trinidad is supported by: Creative Music Works, 89.3FM KUVO Denver, Bocumast LTD.
