About Me

I'm a 30 year old physician living outside New York City. I'm trained in internal medicine and pediatrics, and take a particular interest in inpatient medicine. I love what I do and I love children. Kids aren't little adults, but pediatricians are big kids. :) Work is a huge part of my life, but I wouldn't have it any other way. There's something to be said about being in the business of saving lives and keeping people healthy.I figure you've got to be a softie to take care of kids in the hospital. I consider myself a sensitive, kind, caring, and forgiving individual...really just a big teddy bear. While that can lead to some people using you, I know you can't go changing yourself for others. Besides, people aren't all bad. :)My life has had its share of ups and downs, but I think finding meaning in life is the greatest success you can achieve. I throw myself into my work because it keeps me occupied, engaged, and out of trouble. I'm proud of what I do and what I've accomplished to get here. Most of my growing up was done around Philadelphia, but I ended up a Cleveland sports nut. I lived in Pittsburgh for the time I spent in residency; that place has a lot of idiosyncracies and the people have one of the most annoying accents I've ever heard, but it's still a nice place, especially when viewed from the right location. If you're a U2 fan and have followed them around at all, then you've probably seen or met me during the course of the last few tours. I've seen them live more times that I should probably admit to, and invariably, I always end up right up front on the floor. Edge's guitar riffs can heal almost anything.
Some places I've lived:
Philadelphia, PA
Pittsburgh, PA
Detroit, MI
Cleveland, OH

My Interests

--------------------I love to travel and see new places. I've been to half of the states in the US and a handful of foreign countries. I'd like to visit South America and Australlia someday. One of these days the Cavs and the Browns
will bring championship pride to Cleveland.
For now, I'm pinning my hopes on LeBron.
-------------------- "Although every single building surrounding (World Trade) building 7 and the twin towers remained standing, building 7 fell straight down into a convenient little pile in 6 seconds. Official explanation? Falling debris from the twin towers created an internal fire which ignited several fuel tanks inside the building. If this is true, then it would be the third steel-framed building in history to collapse because of a fire. The first two would be the twin towers."The following documentaries offer proof that the official explanation of the events of September 11th, 2001 is scientifically impossible. Our Republican Congress spent $40,000,000 investigationg Bill Clinton's sex life, but only $600,000 investigating 9/11. George Bush, his brothers, and his cabinet have no respect for the American people. Personally, I'm outraged by that. Are you?

I'd like to meet:

I'd give anything to see her again.Apparently my friends and I are all crazy... REALLY crazy...I've already met a handful of celebrities including Paul "Bono" Hewson, Dave "The Edge" Evans, Mariah Carey, Nate Morris, Devon Evans (percussionist for Bob Marley & The Wailers), a few politicians, and a couple others. Some people I'd still like to meet or wish I had gotten the chance to meet are John Chaney, Bill Cosby, Fidel Castro, Amy Lee, Bob Marley, Jim Henson, and Fred (Mister) Rogers (sadly, I had the chance before he passed away but didn't take it).
December 9, 2006 at Aloha Stadium
This was the concert of a lifetime. Pearl Jam opened up the final show of
U2's Vertigo tour in Honolulu. The bands then teamed up to play
"Rockin' In The Free World".
December 9, 2006 at Aloha Stadium
Not only did Pearl Jam share the stage with U2, but Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day joined them as well for "The Saints Are Coming".
October 17, 2006 at the Riviera Theatre
Getting crushed on the railing at an incredible Evanescence concert.

October 17, 2005 at the Wachovia Center
This was one of the best concerts ever.
Yes, that's Bruce playing with them.
October 8, 2005 at Madison Square Garden
Another great show (U2 never disappoints) which saw the boys team up with Mary J. Blige to play One. A very interesting and moving duet...
I had to throw this one in too. I think Bono was
surprised by the fact that I can carry a tune!

Music:

U2
Mariah Carey
Evanescence
Green Day
Prince
Linkin Park
Stone Temple Pilots
Velvet Revolver
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pat Benatar
Beastie Boys
Weird Al Yankovic
Nine Inch Nails
AC/DC
Bob Marley
Jimi HendrixMusic is a huge part of my life...well, at least listening to it is. I find it to be a great emotional outlet when things get to me. Learning to play the electric guitar is one of my goals. I love lyrics that actually have meaning behind them, as opposed to most manufactured pop music. I don't particularly care for "artists" who are unable or unwilling to write their own songs. What band from the 80s are you?
You're in touch with the world, and you have a very strong opinion on things like politics and war. Even if you do end up changing your image in the future, most of us will still like you.

Movies:

Transformers (1986)
The Lion King
Star Wars
The Shawshank Redemption
Rocky
Animal House
Life
Blue Streak
National Security
The Rundown
American History XSome of my favorite actors (small screen and big screen) are Samuel Jackson, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kiefer Sutherland, Hugh Laurie, Tim Robbins, Martin Lawrence, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Tommy Lee Jones, Nathan Lane, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, and Lucille Ball.
One of the funniest damn movie scenes ever.
Is there anyone Eddie hasn't offended? :)

Television:

The Simpsons, 24, House, Law & Order, South Park, Letterman, Seinfeld, Transformers, the news? Most of what I watch on TV is sports related (ESPN, football, hockey, etc). There are a few shows I watch regularly, but not many. Personally, I think this reality TV thing is getting out of hand. I'm proud to say I've never watched an episode of Survivor. Which House Character Are You?
You are Dr. Gregory House. You are the God of Snark. Life has given you lemons so you cut them in half and squeeze lemon juice in people's eyes to get your jollies. Although underneath it all you are really just a damaged person who can't deal with emotions, especially your own. The good news is you're brilliant!
U2 as guest stars. Could The Simpsons get any cooler?
Love it when the good & bad guys can work together...
...but the good guys can't get along with one another.

Books:

I read for work all the time (medical texts, journals, etc). I've written research papers for the European Journal of Pharmacology and for the American Journal of Physiology. Research isn't quite my cup of tea, but I'm a published author nonetheless.Asides from that, most of what I read is still nonfiction, including autobiographies, self help stuff, and the like.

Heroes:

They say that every cynic is a disappointed idealist, and I suppose I'm no exception.

And now the lonely reality

I've lived here for a little under a year and a half, and I don't think I've ever felt lonely before.  But I do tonight.  I miss you so much and I've really felt lost at times.  There a...

So this is goodbye

I had so many plans, so many visions of the next time I'd see you, the next time I could touch you.  Never in a million years did I think it would be like this.  You've left us all, and as y...

It wasnt supposed to be this way...

You were supposed to be the strong one, the invincible one, the one that couldn't be kept down.  It's so bitterly ironic that here I was thinking that I'd never heal, but ultimately you were...

Life is not forever

Because so many people I run into don't seem to understand this, let me just come out and say it:  people die.  Life is a terminal diagnosis with 100% mortality.  You might think that's...

The New McCarthyism

So in this new era of "fighting terrorism" we've come to a point where people who buy a handful of cell phones or people who "look suspicious" or, to say it properly, people who "look Muslim" or "look...
