I'm not your traditional 40-yr-old. In fact, I'd say I'm far from conventional. I'd describe myself as eclectic but not eccentric...at least not yet. (I'm still holding out hope.) Today I'm listening to Dead Can Dance; tomorrow it'll be Nine Inch Nails. (Yesterday it was Ani...just in case you were wondering.) Today I'm reading Steinbeck, tomorrow Christopher Moore. I love watching Woody Allen movies. But I can dig Adam Sandler too. I guess what I'm saying is I love variety. However, some things never change. I'm always compassionate and giving. Honest and passionate. Strong willed but open-minded. A feminist who loves to sew and cook. I can make a mean latte, and enjoy smoking a clove once in awhile.

My Interests

CURRENT MOON moon phases

“There is not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America -- there is the United States of America,” Barak Obama

Your Passion is Red!
You've got that spark - a good dose of intensity, power, and determination.
You do whatever you want in life ... to hell with what anyone thinks!
With so many interests and loves, you're always running around doing something new.
You have fire in your eyes, and it shows. Bet you're even wearing something red! What Color is Your Passion?

Books, quilts, chocolate, beer...not necessarily in that order.

I Am 12% Capitalist, 88% Socialist
You see a lot of injustice in the world, and you'd like to see it fixed.
As far as you're concerned, all the wrong people have the power.
You're strongly in favor of the redistribution of wealth - and more protection for the average person. Are You a Socialist or Capitalist?

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking for new friends!! It's as simple as that. Friends who can tolerate a neurotic chihuahua. People who can laugh at themselves as well as me and enjoy good literature and philosophical conversation. Most of all people who can be themselves and accept others for who they are.

Music:

adopt your own virtual pet!Just about anything but country cross-over crap. But this weeks heavy rotation includes: Tool (their new album rocks!), 16 Horsepower (goth bluegrass what's not to love) and Michael Franti (for when I need my spirit lifted)

Movies:

I suck at at favorites. I'm far too fickle for that. But the top of the list would include LA Story, Steve Martin and a freeway sign; On Golden Pond, Henry Fonda and Kate Hepburn are both brilliant in it; About a Boy, it's a great adaptation of the book; the Hours, tho I can't watch it too often; any Jet Li martial arts flick, especially Hero and of course anything by Tim Burton.

Books:

My score on The Well Read Test :

You are 91% well read!

I'm always looking for a good book. My favorites include: Cassandra by Christa Wolf, Holy the Firm by Annie Dillard; Life After God by Douglas Coupland (well just about anything by Coupland) and I thoroughly enjoy Christopher Moore when I need to lighten up.

Heroes:

The Amish!! I pray I can be that loving and forgiving. Woodie Guthrie, he's the Godfather of socialist folk singers. My father his integrity was the most important thing in life. He taught me to ethical, honest, and to love Woodie Guthrie. He rode the rails, but never told his secrets. Billy Jean King, she kicked Bobby Riggs arse. Oh and of course, Chuck Norris.
