.. The BOURBON STREET EXTRAVAGANZA, is an annual event, envisioned and created by Chuck Robinson, one of the owners of Napoleon's Itch, in anticipation of the 2004 grand opening of the now famous Club located at 734 Bourbon and St. Ann, in conjunction with the purchase and renovation of the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, wherein the "Itch" is located. The Bourbon Street Extravaganza is a live concert, staged on Bourbon at St. Ann, and is always at 5:00 p.m. the Saturday before Labor Day, during SOUTHERN DECADENCE in New Orleans, the City's 3rd largest festival, 37 years old. The 2008 Show falls on August 30, and is produced FREE to the public, and funded by Napoleon's Itch. In 2007, some 135,000 visitors attended SOUTHERN DECADENCE, and an estimated 15,000 were pressed to the stage in every direction making it the largest event of SOUTHERN DECADENCE. The roster of Stars appearing on the BSE (Bourbon Street Extravaganza) has included Martha Wash, Jeanie Tracy, Inaya Day, Amber, Frederick Ford, Mat Jordan, and Deborah Cox. The August 30, 2008 Show features the return of Jeanie Tracy for her fourth BSE, and Deborah Cox for her second BSE. American Idol Finalist, Kimberley Locke has been secured for this years show, her first appearance in New Orleans, by popular demand. More announcements will be made in the coming weeks about who the last two artists are to be signed for the Extravaganza. And of course, states Robinson, I always have a "surprise" in the production. The show, started five years ago just to let Decadence visitors know about the new club, Napoleon's Itch,...." has just gotten bigger and more credible with the signing of major artists", states Robinson. Decadence has a financial impact on the City of over $120,000,000.00 yearly, and produces a financial benefit to the City of 1/6th of it's total yearly operating budget. " We at Napoleon's Itch have always felt that it is time to give something back to these visitors to fuel the future growth of Decadence to the benefit of all of New Orleans, particularly at a time when Katrina has changed our world" again Robinson states. "We have historically been covered by network news and media from Canada to Korea." Certainly with the spirit and attitude of Robinson and Napoleon's Itch, the Bourbon Street Extravaganza has become a major force in Southern Decadence festivities and attendence, turning the attention of visitors and media world-wide on the City of New Orleans, and the importance and contribution of Southern Decadence. !Upcoming Events by Eventful
