Movie scores, symphonic music, John Williams, Phillip Glass, smart musical theatre, crazy-happy Japanese music, Tom Waits, Rasputina, Bjork, Nico, some 80's (i.e. Siouxie, The Cure, etc.), 20's Charleston, 40's jazz, 60's BeBop and Bossa Nova, African/Asian/Irish/Anything With Cool Drums and Pipes and Shit, weepy Eastern-European Holocaust-y music, and POLKA!
The Talented Mr. Ripley, Schindler's List, Amelie, The Hours, Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Everything is Illuminates Ghost World, I Heart Huckabees, Edward Scissorhands, Frida, Kill Bill 1 and 2, Sin City, Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, The Joy Luck Club, The Exorcist, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Waiting For Guffman/Best In Show/A Mighty Wind, Grave of the Fireflies, Mommie Dearest, The Dreamers, Chicago, The Incredibles, Noises Off, Bullets Over Broadway, The Shining...
In short:
Good, depressing, slow-moving and weepy chick flicks, bad campy trash, crazy artsy-fartsy indie shit, and anything that has to do with the 20's or the 40's or the Holocaust or Asia. Whew.
Project Runway. X-Play. Will and Grace re-runs.
I mostly read plays... Otherwise very much in favor of Edward Gorey, Brian Froud, 40's Pin-up books, underground comics, anything about communist/nazi/all-around-40's propaganda, crazy 20's fashion i.e. Erte, biographies and the occasional novel if it grabs me.
Dame Judi Dench. And Meryl Streep. No, really.
