About Me

Peterborough born MC Rowdie, from Bretton got his first taste of music when his parents brought him his first Hi-Fi when he was 10 and he became hooked on the Tim Westwood Show on BBC Radio 1. It was during this time Rowdie’s love for music grew, being inspired by artists such as Method Man & DMX. It wasn’t until Rowdie entered Year 10 at school that he joined a crew of MC’s and Beat Boxers, and it wasn’t long before their simple playground rhymes began to gain interest from his peers and friends from school.
When MC Rowdie embarked on a course at Peterborough Regional College it was here that he began to mix with the foundations of his next crew Peterborough Black Youths. The new and improved crew consisted of MC’s such as the AK Kid, Dub Ect and PBY, they quickly began to spread their sound lacing both local and regional beats such as Klimeks PBY Promo. Unfortunately for the black youths of Peterborough, two years on the collective seemed to deteriorate with many struggling to find the time to write bars, however Rowdie still continued to keep the lyrics flowing and soon after began investing in his own studio equipment, little by little his home studio was formed. It was in his bedroom where he crafted his first mixtape ‘Live life on the edge Vol. 1’, a second Volume followed, each mixtape showed development and helped path the way for him to establish himself in the grime scene and his name and fanbase spread throughout the city.
It was myspace which gave the 19 year old the break he needed when he received a message from Undadogg Promotions, who earlier this year launched the careers of Lori & DJ Reepz with the club smasher ‘Do Me Like That’. Rowdie was invited to perform at one of their Trizzackz nights at The Park in Peterborough, which later lead him to support the likes of DJ Ironik last Christmas and Chipmunk earlier this year, not forgetting Part 2 on Friday 1st August 2008!
MC Rowdie now working with Undadogg Promotions, releases his first official double A side single ‘Missin U/Hard Work’. The video was shot and produced by Urben Media based in Nottingham, however Rowdie was adamant that he wanted to shoot all the video in his home town of Peterborough. Watch out for his new street mixtape ‘Time to get Rowdie’ being released later this summer on August 26th 2008, which features Missin’ U & Hardwork (full version).
