Music is universal language as is mathematics. Fight for our children to be exposed to various music forms on a regular basis, outside of school. Everyone who wants a better future for our children need to express the connection of music and the synapse. Freedom of speech does not have to be compromised. Children need choices and so do parents. For they are no match to the mighty giants of society. Children need to understand the power of music. Maybe not your child, but most children have very limited encounters with music. There is a direct physiological relation to our spine and the type of note heard and the affect on our minds. Let the children hit a key, pluck a chord, drum a bass line. The experience is so different than hearing the weak ass excuse for most music the masses hear on daily, even different than hearing a concerto on a synthetic sound wave. If u have a tool let them use it , if you don't take 30mins of your time and make one with a child. Be watchful of their eyes, their body, mainly their backs. There's a connection there! But guess what... There's a deficit in the "budget", I have a great idea.. lets take the $ from the arts in public/after schools, yeahhh, thats it. Many leaders have used music to control the masses, please do the knowledge! Please expose any children around you to real hip-hop, old school hip-hop(this generation doesn't have a KRS 1, Public enemy, etc. playing on the radio when they get home from school),jazz, African drums, classical or any other form of music when u get a chance. Is there room in HIP HOP for a sexy female artist. support originality...Adults... please visit myspace.com/missmells add, msg.,comment on her new sound !!!My general opinion...Samples and/or covers are VERY risky for NEW artist.two examples where they work:1. in the club on a mix tape2. at a promo showBe careful to not become attached, review union guidelines(**A digital approach to gettin' paid and trackin' your music called "Sound Exchange", not a union)Its hard not to place a feeling with a familiar beat, they connect to our psyche. You want listeners to get attached to you. RIDE THE BEAT , USE EVERY syllable to DEMAND CONTROL OF ITThanx for reachin' outluvlifealwaz
My Guilty Pleasures..... AMERICAS NEXT TOP Model, Girlfriends, Check Please!, Chicago access channels, I love the good informative ones and laugh real hard at the bad ones!! C-Span Book series...
I certainly read the BIBLE..all kinds of them...you know there's like 40! And that includes "The Wine Bible" by Karen MacNeil!!!(LOL) I think the fascination and depth of the subject is very interesting...Thank you Tura-Laura! NO I'm Not a lush, I rarely drink, nor do I think it is as important as THE BIBLE (o.k. mommy!!). I also have the Koran and Torah and read them as well. I often read more than one book and I like to re-read my favorites. My all time favorite is 'Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn. It's an easy read about human captivation, told from an interesting and unsuspecting P.O.V. I also love Physic books. "The Ties That Bind" by Daisy S. Daniels.(www.tiesthatbinddd.com) great details about the search for love.. and to find out that we all are in search of ONLY GOD's LOVE!!! Alwaz luv "Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals" by Immanuel Kant, translated by H.J. Paton. I alwaz have on the coffee table: "The Studies of Human Aura" by Kuthumi, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden, and various selections placed conveniently around for anyone to pick up or borrow. I love books . The best thing to do when you really want to read is to go to one of those major chain book stores and turn off your cell and read, read, read p.s. (Although risky) "Behold a Pale Horse", by William Cooper(R.I.P.) is a must read for all the conspiracy theorist out there.
