The alternative Rock, Pop & Country Club WOODY WEST started out for the first time in the fall of 2000 with an evening with the first Sweden solo show of upcoming superstar Ryan Adams (US), alt.country rockers Nadine (US) and local favourites Elmer.Since that night we never looked back and we´ve done hundreds of excellent club nights, concerts and shows including My Morning Jacket, Josh Rouse, Lucinda Williams, Christian Kjellvander, Lambchop, Rosie Thomas, Iron & Wine, Essex Green, Billy Bragg, Kristofer Astrom, Son Volt, Calexico just to name a few.The name Woody came from the classic protest singer and the first punk rocker, Woody Guthrie, whose many ideals agreed with the Woody West-crews ways to see on things. For us the name Woody stands for something genuine, authentic, faithful, society critical and traditional concurrent as something rebellious, involved, dared, mind extending, spiritual, innovative and alternative.As Woody West started out, we refused to get tied to some specific place, or some specific day or other things that could limit our visions and bookings. Instead, we wanted to have the possibility to use whatever venue we thought would suite the club evening best, when we known that we had some good to present. The important thing is to present the club evenings in the best possible contexts without needing to take considerations to time and place.Woody West can use an amount of different places for its club evenings: Pusterviksbaren, Tragarn, Sticky Fingers and Roda Sten which in turn given fantastic club evenings and concerts.Woody West Saturday Night Club is a reappeared evening the third Saturday in the month at Pusterviksbaren and has become one of Gothenburg´s most popular clubs.Today, we carry out Woody West with same convincing electricity and passion, in the same way as we always done it, true to our convictions about music, believes and hopes.
