At the tender age of 14 TC Monckton was little more than a cheeky Leeds raggamuffin, pestering bewildered London shop owners for the latest rare Jungle releases while his Dad patiently waited outside... ten years on and he is beginning to make serious waves throughout the North East and beyond, cutting it alongside some of the biggest names in dance music.
Since arriving in Newcastle, TC has played along names as varied as Tiesto, Layo and Bushwacka! Dexter, Groove Armada, 2 Many DJs, Tom Middleton and Plump DJs. After demonstrating his versatility in front of massive crowds at Arcane (Newcastle University's all night termly bonanza) TC has settled comfortably into his own unique style of DJing, smoothly blending twisted electronic house with dark and dirty breakbeat.
Since TC started his residency at Wax:On, he has regularly rubbed shoulders with the main players in the breakbeat community. Be it Stanton Warriors, Tayo or Krafty Kuts, TC sets the mood and fills the dancefloor ready for the main act. Wax:On has allowed TC to try his hand in other cities and countries, notably rocking the Dirty Disco in Leeds and Snowbombing in the Austrian town of Mayrhofen. June 2007 sees TC pop his Ibiza cherry with an appearance at Chew The Fat's Sunday night residency at Space.
Turning to production, TC is beginning to amass an impressive portfolio of his own tracks under the TCS guise. TCS sees TC joining forces with one half of Spector, John Paul Denton, and between them have recently completed the Breakin' In EP. Their first track "Acid Rhythm" made some serious noise in the Breakbeat community with Jay Cunning naming it as his Unsigned Single of the Week on his Kiss 100 show and Jay also included it in Kiss 100's Unsigned Breakbeat podcast. "Cut That DJ" has seen a third member of TCS come out of the shadows and into the spotlight, namely the man who is simply known as Sven. Expect loads more from the trio over the forthcoming weeks and months as TCS continue to produce tracks specifically made to rock the Wax:On dancefloor.
TC draws influences from all forms of popular music from the last decade fusing them together with tough and gritty broken beats. Constantly striving to add surprises and memorable moments to his DJ sets, TC also has a formidable arsenal of his own private bootlegs certain to get any crowd roaring.
If that wasn't enough to keep this young man busy, TC also works in Advertising for Emap Radio. Any spare time is dedicated to the art of vodka!!!
