Paul Brown, better known as Bad News Brown was born on May 8th 1977 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Orphin at birth, Bad News Brown is quickly adopted by a Montreal family and moves to Canada, where he is brought up. Eager to rediscover those sharing the same cultural roots, BNB, young and determined, leaves his home during his teenage years and is quickly exposed to all facets of street life and its cultural manifestations such as Hip Hop and rap music. BNB quickly discovers the harmonica as a new original voice for the masses generating unanimous reactions by all those listening.
As a proficient harmonica player, Bad News Brown developed new ways of playing and expressing himself via his instrument, generating new unexplored sounds, riffs and melodies. He incorporates multiple styles within his music such as blues, reggae, rock, drum & bass, trip hop, house, techno and hip-hop with a clear vision revolving around the renaissance of blues. His writing, compositions and performances have revealed the screaming sensitivity of his life experiences, main source of inspiration.
Popular street based artist, Bad News Brown’s unique style of being a harmonica player, rapper with a fresh slang & blues singer, mixed in with a charismatic personality has made him a mandatory opening act for some of the most popular names in the industry (50 Cent, Kanye West, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Tom Cochran, Kenny G, Nas, De la Soul, Miri Ben Ari, Juelz Santana, Ciara, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Lil Jon, The Game, Jadakiss, Bobby Valentino, Kevin Little, Talib Kweli, Common, IAM (fr), Booba (fr), Sinik (fr), Psy4 (fr), Vai (fr), etc). He’s also performed live on stage with De La Soul & Nas. Subway stations, nightclubs, bars, concert halls, universities, festivals around the world have heard the sweet melodies of his precious metallic instrument. Unanimous reactions by crowds. In the spirit of always representing one’s base, Montreal’s most popular urban artists have also featured Bad News Brown on their respective albums. Vai, Sacha Lee, Butta Babees, BU, Muzion, Sans Pression, Vokab, Stratege & Cobna, Liquid, Resistance, Dirty Taz, are amongst a few to have listed BNB in their track list. Bad News has also appreared on more then 20 local mixtapes and street DVDs.
In 2004, Bad News Brown joined E-Stunt Entertainment Group for artist & business management and shortly after established his own label "Round Da Clock Entertainment". In 2005, he released the single "Feelin Me On" on a Universal Music France Compilation "Hip Hop Rai2". He also released a series of street based videos for web & dvd based marketing. In the Fall of 2005, the Canadian National Film Board released the documentary "Music for a Blue Train" in which Bad News Brown acted as the witty impromptu host. The bluesy film score evoked the essence of busking in the subway. That same year, Round Da Clock strongly armed the Canadien streets with 5000 free promotional Bad News Brown DVDs exposing various aspects of his street life, behind the scenes and a series of hilarious sketches.
After focusing a few years on artist development, recording with both hip hop producers as well as with a live band, touring, shooting videos (with Hollywod director Zalman King & Canadian director Harv Glazer and Johnathan Raddatz), implementing business powermoves in different territories and recently collaborating with music industry veteran Eddie Wenrick (who worked with Kiss, Frank Zappa, Beach Boys and Earth Wind and Fire) and Ice at the A-List Talent Agency in NYC Bad News Brown’s highly anticipated debut album is scheduled to drop in 2008.
