.. "....The basic test of freedom is perhaps less in what we are free to do than in what we are free not to do...." (Eric Hoffner 1902-1983) Pop art has suffocated classic art. This is a reflection of us. Our afluenza is making us blind to our own enslavement. Our minds are being crammed with an idea of love that is itrinsically unrelated to true love. Good and evil is a control tactic our leaders use to promote their false idealistic view of prosperity and advancement and as and excuse to commit heinous acts around the world for financial gain, but in the name of freedom. These are all part the modern American struggle which we may or may not overcome.... Violinist Tyson Leonard started with this idea after the demise of former group Rain Fur Rent. After moving back to San Luis Obispo from Los Angeles he saw possibilities of a new kind of community driven by ideas and connectedness, rather than money and power. To communicate this into music, Grant Leonard with his bass, Ryan Johnson with his pedal steel (both formerly of Glider and Rain Fur Rent), and Trevor Mahin with percussion joined the group. Tropo is a name that embodies the group's message. "Going tropical, or back to the origin... the wild." Our technologies and advancement in science should not blind us but should not be in vain. We must learn to use our capabilities as a species to live in sustainable harmony. If we don't embrace this the universe will find a new plan for harmony and balance excluding every great achievement and idea human kind has had to offer.
