ALEX POXADA Born 1983 in the great city of Chicago . A City full of History & Nightlife, which he would leave to migrate to what he would call his home, COLOMBIA.
His love for music started in the early days of his childhood playing around with his father records and tapes figuring out & improvising the junction of two songs.
At the age of 12 he managed to create his first mixes cutting & pasting pieces of tape with songs recorded from the radio .
His style of music was based on dark grooves , african / latin tendencies ( TRIBAL HOUSE & TECHNO ) and under the influence of such artist like Carl Cox - Mauro Picotto & Danny Tenaglia
Turning to the age of 14 he got his 1st mixing equipment , however, this mixing equipment was lacking pitch which made him acquire a great expertise in mixing due to dificult task of mixing with bad equipment.
He started throwing parties creating good musical vibes among the many who had the grace of hearing him.
Getting recognized by his outrageous talent at a young age (15) he was offered to play for the first time in a club event( Club Mission ) for New Years Eve in a Hangar @ Cali Colombia Airport with 3000 party goers and two Boeing 747 for V I P S . After this unforgetable moment and opportunity given it made him realize that he had a overwhelming desire of entertaining people.
Alex took and early star on his way back to the US(Miami) were he would start to play at local Lounges & Nightclubs like PACHA NYC- SPACE MIAMI - Parkwest/Rehab Bar -Voodoo Lounge(Ft Lauderdale) - Nocturnal -Karu & Y- Discotekka- PawnShop - Area 51 - Mansion - The Forge - Nikki Beach - Crobar - Club Bed - Sixty Six - Indra Lounge - Soho (South Carolina) - Ambar Lounge (West Palm Beach) - Gem NightClub - Delano - The Tides
to name a few & has shared the decks with Recognized dj's such as Victor Calderone - Dj Vibe - That Kid Chris-Carlos Fauverelle-Erich Ensastigue- Richie Santana /Peter Bailey- Bad Boy Bill - Robbie Rivera - Willie Morales - Jhonny Vicious - Hex Hector -Ralph Falcon - Vodoo & Serrano - Dj Rooster & Sammy Peralta - Milk & Sugar -Armand Pena - Granite & Phunk - V.Butterfly & many more .In 2004 he started his weekly Internet Radio Show @ The Womb (South Beach)Broadcasting World Wide & creating a big numerous of listeners around the world Till Todays Date. Every saturday from 8pm till 10pm E.S.T @ (www.womb.tv)In The Mids of 2007 He Had a very successful Colombia Tour were he performed in Medellin - Bogota - Manizales -Pereira & Cali and gained much more recognition of his great one of a kind talent.Moreover Alex Poxada, Audio Special Technician flying around the United States Installing NightClub Sound Systems in outstanding Clubs Like, Pacha (NY) - Rain (Las Vegas) - Club Space & Metropolis (DownTown Miami) Mokai (Miami) and Not only that, Erick Morillo's Home Audio & Video Instalation in Miami.Alex Poxada Currently has a Residence at Discotekka in Downtown Miami "SHOW ME MIAMI " Afterhours , Indra Lounge on South as well at The Setai Hotel @ South Beach .
