I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Born in Durham, NC and a Durmite to his heart, Essence Best selling Author David Horton just so happens to be a young black male and he is waiting patiently to become an old black male.Commonly known as "Supa Dave" to friends, family, and foes alike, he is a politically minded community activist and huge advocate of the progression of the young black male. After years in corporate America spending his spare time writing a playful newsletter to many of his close friends, David began to take writing more seriously and found that he spoke for a special segment of the population.Negro Intellect is David's first book but he has more in the plans. Committed to his brethren whether they be free or behind bars, his intention is to promote confidence and self-awareness to a group of people he feels that America has forgotten and he will be letting the world know that we're still HERE.David is currently working on several business ventures including event promotions, book publishing, screenplays, a non-profit organization, real estate management and investment and web sites. Stay tuned.A new book is in the works - it's gonna be something different for sure...

My Interests

"Men of America, the problem is plain before you. Here is a race transplanted through the criminal foolishness of your fathers. Whether you like it or not the millions are here, and here they will remain. If you do not lift them up, they will pull you down. Education and work are the levers to uplift a people. Work alone will not do it unless inspired by the right ideals and guided by intelligence. Education must not simply teach work — it must teach Life. The Talented Tenth of the Negro race must be made leaders of thought and missionaries of culture among their people. No others can do this work and Negro colleges must train men for it. The Negro race, like all other races, is going to be saved by its exceptional men." - W.E.B. DuBois

I'd like to meet:

People with credibility and Authors who write for their people and not a buck. Oh yeah - anyone who likes to get crunk. Ha ha! It's not Supa for nothing...

Music:

Hip hop fo' life!! But you catch just about anything in my IPOD. Maroon 5 got that fire also (still checking that new album out though).

Movies:

The Matrix, Menace to Society, Armageddon, and Pearl Harbor. Basically anything funny, sci-fi, or guns getting straight blasted. And who could forget "Dude, where's my car?"

Television:

I watch Rap Videos - ALL DAY. It's a guilty pleasure for a positive writer. Otherwise - TV is all bad. TV has been brainwashing America for the last 4 decades.

Books:

It's only one book you need to cop and that's that Negro Intellect!!! www.negrointellect.comYou can also check me out at www.notinmyfamily.com with some heavy hitters doing my thing. It's for the community baby!html

"Not in my Family: AIDS in the African American Family" ( www.notinmyfamily.com )
"Negro Intellect" ( www.negrointellect.com )

Heroes:

I've got so many - Malcom, Martin, Ali, Ghandi, H. Rap, Tupac, Biggie, Fredrick Douglas, W.E.B. DuBois, Booker T. Washington and Carter G. Woodson. I'm all about uplifting my people but I'd be out of order to omit all the Dope Boys that steered me in the right direction.

What in the world is wrong with Bill Cosby?
