I read all the time and am always reading about 5 books at a time, due to me wanting to read too much and not ever having the patience to finish one before starting another...

My favourite book is 'The Power of One' by Bryce Courtenay it's amazing!
I loved 'The Time Traveller's Wife' by Audrey Niffenegger.
'Spud' by John Van Der Ruit.
'The World According to Garp'
'Lovely Bones'
John Grisham and Robin Hobb also manage to write page turners.
Other classics are 'the catcher in the rye' and tad williams' Otherland trilogy... Most of Stephen Kings stuff...
