About Me

I'm Steve Zautke. I work at The Milwaukee Mile Speedway on the media side of the things. I'm their historian and I'm their special projects guy, i.e. "We need you to do this." I'm also editor of www.racingnation.com - check it out. My full-time gig is working at Henry Schein Dental in the "Skunk Works" dept. Nobody really knows what we do and we'd like to keep it that way.
I've been professionally involved in auto racing since 1989 originally in safety as an EMT. I've worked as a EMT, videographer, on-line reporter, motorsports magazine writer among other things. I also co-host a NASCAR radio show on WSSP 1250 AM on Saturdays 12-2pm CST on a rotating basis. Streaming is here. www.sportsradio1250.com
My father (former auto racing movie photographer)is the one who sowed my racing seeds, as I have been going to auto races since about 1972. My roots are in USAC Indy Car and Stock Car racing, with some midget racing thrown in. I've grown to love all types of racing from NASCAR, F-1 to vintage racing.
Thus, "It's all good."

I'd like to meet:

I've been lucky to have met many cool people, broken bread with some too. Most of the people I'd like to meet have long passed. I would had liked to been able to have an adult beverage with racing drivers Jim Hurtubise, Jimmy Bryan and Curtis Turner among others. How about Teddy Roosevelt or paling around with or the Rat Pack?

Below - Gotta love the Packers.

Always have loved the Green Bay Packers. Bart Starr #15 (above) was and is a class act. Here is a shot of John Brockington from the early 1970's. (below)

Above, Love those powder blues! Always liked the Chargers (but not Norv Turner).

Also, for some odd reason I have a thing for the Buffalo Braves/San Diego Clippers/Los Angeles Clippers.

Elton Brand brings power to the power forward position.

Norm Nixon ran the show for the Clippers in the mid-1980's.

Swen Nater played behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Walton at UCLA. Went on the play in the ABA and NBA for over ten years. Played for the the Spurs, Braves, Bucks, Clippers and Lakers from 1973-1984. Very underated center. Another class act.
