About Me

AC is a corporate lawyer. No, seriously. You may remember him from such TV ads as this .

Every Girl Is A Song

AC's new album, "Every Girl Is A Song", was recorded in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia in November 2005. Circumstances beyond his control meant the final product wasn't delivered until mid April 2006.

Being a control freak and having no friends, AC was forced to play all the instruments, do all the vocals, and mix and master everything himself. The result was an engaging and raw album that takes stereos on a case by case basis as if it can't make up its mind exactly how it should sound. For some reason, though, it has a particular affinity for iPod headphones.

The album, containing 7 songs, including reworked versions of the popular "Hesitate" and "Ella Habla Espanol" as well as a number of previously unreleased tracks, explores the themes of distance, longing and loss in AC's typically thoughtful, observational style.

About AC

Coming from a musical family, AC started playing drums at about the same time he could sit upright. His parents encouraged this early musical talent with piano lessons at the age of 8. His talent flourished, but his frustrations with the practise regime and "old fashioned" music convinced AC to quit. But his love of music and desire to explore it remained.

AC was involved in a number of teenage experimental bands as a drummer, including the critically acclaimed "Big Mac and the Small Fries". Local popularity fuelled AC's desire to emerge from behind the kit and stand at the front of the stage for once, so for his 18th birthday he asked for, and received, an acoustic guitar. A succession of earnest "high school" songs followed until AC found his niche.

The highly successful side project "Plughole" followed in 2003, with the "Hello Ladies" album selling out in a number of days. Plughole delighted local crowds at parties and uni bars in Coffs Harbour, Brisbane and Sydney. The strain of distance between band members and work and travel commitments forced the band to (begrudgingly) dissolve in early 2004.

In 2005 AC recorded the Conscious and Confused EP. AC's songs Hesitate, Conscious and Confused and Ella Habla Espanol were featured on a television advertising campaign in Queensland.

Over 6 months in 2005 and 2006 AC wrote, recorded and produced his debut independent release, Every Girl Is A Song , in his make-shift home studio. During this time he continued to play gigs at uni bars and at charity fundraising events in Brisbane and built an increasing fan base through his website.

These days AC's work is influenced by the music he grew up with, his experience in the corporate world, and the bread and butter of every songwriter, relationships. Audiences connect with his observational piano and guitar pop, and identify with the feeling of each song through AC's honest, genuine and thoughtful lyrics. A growing fan base in Brisbane and glowing feedback from visitors to this web site have made AC a happy man.
