DJ KEYTAR

Come to Nocturnal!!!

About Me

DJ Keytar was born Zachary Johnson in Seattle Washington and was surrounded by jazz and rock and roll his whole life. He began playing piano at the age of ten and eventually moved on to play drums in jazz and rock bands. Keytar was introduced to electronic dance music in highschool attending raves in Seattle. Blown away by the energy and unique sounds of electronic music, he was instantly hooked. After several raves, Keytar moved to San Diego and attended Giant Village Los Angeles in 2001 to see Lee Burridge, Jimmy Van M, Sasha, Junkie XL and Paul Van Dyk. One night of progressive and trance and Keytar bought some beat up decks and began mixing. He has spent the last two years playing out in San Diego and Seattle and has been recently recognized by Anjunabeats artists Basic Perspective as the next up and coming DJ in Southern California and featured on their weekly radio show on ETN.FM. Keytar's unique blend of slamming basslines, dirty electro, innovative breaks and the melodies of trance creates unforgetable mixes that rock floors and leave listeners wanting more. "Djing is so much more than mixing great tracks. Anyone who knows good music can do that. I pride myself on telling a story with every mix using rare tracks that people wouldn't normally hear out and puting all of my energy into my performance. Today everyone wants to be a DJ and most of them for the wrong reasons. I DJ because I love electronic music, I love dancing, I love art, I love the global movement, I love celebrating life and I love making people happy." This is our brand new night in San Diego! Finally, downtown music and ambience without the high prices!!! Come check us out THIS THURSDAY!

My Interests

This is Giant New Years just before the ball dropped. Ferry threw down Robert Miles' "Children" Epic to say the least. Look close you can catch me in the crowd.
