The journey that is my entertainment life started at a very early age. My mother re-married around the time when I was 4 years old. She met a DJ at the country bar she was trying to find a rebound date at. Even I remember going up into the DJ booth with my step-father inside the club after they started dating. There is no telling how my mother got me in underage during the 80s. That was my musical entertainer's influence until my mother divorced again. Eventually my mother re-married, and her new husband's youngest brother was a member, and lead-man of a Blues band based in Philadelphia. At the age of 11 I witnessed his band Crossharp Sharp's Blues Review perform at a Blues Festival along the Delaware River, and in Maggie's Bar on Front St. Now, this is the second oldest bar in America, and some were telling me I was the first underage person to ever step foot in this establishment. That I found legendarily gratifying. When I was 13 in 1993 my friend Rachel Johnston from church and school asked me to go to a punk show with her. It was a small local show at the Old Outback club right across the street from the downtown Edmond, OK Post Office where a postal worker killed 14 other people after he went, to the just newly coined phrase "postal". The band turned out to be Naro-Minded who was a neo-nazi skinhead band. Go figure. That really messed with my head, but was a good laugh all-together. Then one day in April of 1995, the same day in history Paul Revere made his famous ride to alert the Minutemen the British were coming during the Revolutionary War, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City was bombed by Timothy McVeigh (or so some government officials would like us to believe). I thought it was initially an earthquake, or a construction accident on the campus of our new high school. That messed with my head too. But then around 1998 is when I first started listening to dark-step drum'n'bass. That totally messed my head up. Record buying quickly became a new hobby of mine. In 2000, I bought my own turntables/mixer. It didn't take long before I was in a d'n'b DJ crew based out of Norman, OK (That One Kru). A few years later in 2003 I was invited to become a member of Pirate Audio Soundsytem. The original OKC crew that was still on top of their performance promotion over a decade after conception. From there, I learned more about new and rising genres other than d'n'b in the global electronica community, more about multi-media arts and computer networking, soundsystem care, and live performance set-up. Since being involved in the North American Free Tekno Soundsystem culture I can now say I have played all over the continent. Portland, Ashland, Oakland, and San Francisco, Phoenix, as well as Oklahoma City, and many other outdoor renegades from California, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Washington state might be where you have heard one of my DJ sets. From Clinton St. and the Pearl District in Portland, to Haight St. and right on the bay's shore in San Francisco, all the way to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that is "God's Country", and back to the house parties of Oklahoma City. I have played at the strangest and the most questionable locations you could imagine. But anyway. Right now I am living in the Phoenix area, Tempe actually, so if you would like to collaborate on the dubstep or breakcore tip, hit me up for sure. Some future plans of mine will be building my own mobile soundsystem piece by piece. And totally custom too since I am a licensed carpenter. Self reliance on top of maintaining a progressive central idea to regenerate itself is key to this endeavor. Let's see where it will lead me...
