Bio
Since an early age, Shannon Marie, youngest of two older brothers, has always had "something special" about herself that anyone who came in contact with her felt. Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, Shannon enjoyed entertaining loved ones at family gatherings. Her spontaneous nature, bright smile, and creative songs always left her audience wanting more.
Tragedy hit Shannon at the age of 7, when she learned of her older brother, Curtis's death. When her Mother said to her, "Moochie's (Curtis) not comin' back home….he's gone." Shannon took what she's remembered from movies and understood what happened. What was hard to understand was how people could commit such cruel and senseless acts to one other. Seeing it on a television program or movie is one thing, but to live it is another.
Fast forward to high school where Shannon has linked to a classmate named Che Olson (now known as Kid NV). Her fascination in his constantly lyric writing, prompted her to ask if he was a rapper. After learning that he indeed was a rapper, she started running in the same music circles as he. In never meeting a rapper from Omaha, Nebraska, her fascination soon grew to admiration and then to curiosity, wondering if she could do it. She attended a freestyle session one day and was asked to join in. With some hesitation, Shannon still freestyled a few lyrics and gained the respect of her soon to be fellow rappers.
Still working with Che and now a local producer, Shannon picked up the moniker, "Rap Princess of the "O" and released her first single, "Take What's Mine!" To her surprise everyone loved and supported what she was doing. Her single was used by local dance teams at popular varsity basketball teams for halftime shows. It was rare to hear a female rapper from Omaha on a track and even rarer to hear one that was skillful, but from the buzz that she was obtaining from this single it was apparent that Shannon was that rarity.
Right out of high school, now addressed as, Shannon-Marie caught the eyes of local producers, Young Dot, Alfonzo Lee Jones (D'Majishin), and radio personality/song writer/singer Pierre Minor (P. Minor), who decided to help Shannon-Marie get to the next level in her art. After hearing her first CD promo release with three hot songs and one of them "My Set" that she performs and gets a great response all the time, secured the deal.
Now in the studio honing her skills and working with different producers and rappers to assist her, Shannon-Marie is being primped and pampered along the road to being the actual "Rap Princess of the "O"!
