The Cyberfunk Music Group was formed in 2001 by the legendary DJ Quest. Following on from the huge success of his early releases on Rat Records, Botchit and Scarper and Hardcore Beats, DJ Quest decided it was time to launch his own brand of breaks and path the way for a more club driven breakbeat sound. Cyberfunk was born from Quest’s ambitions to bring breakbeat into a new era whist maintaining its traditional funk roots.
“The vision I had for the label was of a technical and futuristic type of breaks whilst still retaining funk. Given the word “cyber†is often associated with all things technical and futuristic I thought it was the obvious choice!†– DJ Quest on naming the label.
Cyberfunk launched with a massive release by DJ Quest & Ben Coupland ‘System Error / Bad Debt’ and has now gone on to rack up a staggering 29 releases from the likes of The Breakfastaz, Eskmo, DJ Mutiny, Baobinga and Odissi! Cyberfunk has made a huge impression on the entire breaks scene with its high production calibre and its passion for trying out new sounds and ideas. From tearing basslines such as Baobinga’s “Bashment Track†to punky vocals in the style of Odissi’s “Groupieâ€, from 2 step garage-esq tunes like “Sleazy Jet Rhumba†to house orientated vibes like Odissi & Motive’s “My Angel†remix. Cyberfunk’s output has never really had one solid style and DJ Quest endeavours to keep it that way.
“I always consciously look for music that is original or against the grain. I’d like to honestly think we have never put one tune out that just runs with what is fashionable or ‘acceptable’ at the time etc.†- DJ Quest
Cyberfunk’s ever changing styles and sounds have gained new fans at every turning, but old fans are never left feeling out of the picture as all Cyberfunk releases have something in common – a true grip on ‘the funk’ and the ability to made a dancefloor explode.
BIOGRAPHY
DJ Quest is a name synonymous with all things breakbeat. Since first getting into the music in early 2000, Quest has been instrumental in shaping the heavier, more club-oriented style of breaks. Starting with his first label “Pulse Recordingsâ€, he alongside likeminded artists at the time such as Stanton Warriors, Blowfelt, Zinc and Deekline helped shape the sound to what it is known as today.
The music back then (2000-2001) never really had a home or a name, and was tagged by the music press with all sorts of strange names, "breakbeat garage" being the one that eventually stuck. Quest came to dominate this crossover scene, with anthems such as "Warship", "Egypt" (with Ken Mac), "Captain Porno" and "Trunklets". Things started to move very quickly after a chance meeting with Deekline down at the infamous Music House (where Deekline first heard Quest’s "Warship" and got very excited!), and a very important partnership and friendship was formed that still exists to this day. Quest was signed to Deekline’s labels, Rat Records and Hardcore Beats, and the result was many more hits in this burgeoning scene. With tracks such as "Bad Boy DJ" and "Old Skool" becoming massive hits overnight, this paved the way for a project that is still very special to Quest. Rat Sessions Volume 1, released in 2002, was arguably the first album ever released in the more bassline, club orientated vein, featuring tracks such as "Floor Basher", "Say Yeah","Feeling" and "Synthetic Funk". Accompanied with a mix cd that featured top drum’n’bass MC IC3, this album sent shockwaves through the industry. With the album under his belt, Quest felt it was the right time to start his own label.
This was of course the label we all know as the infamous Cyberfunk Recordings…….With a back catalogue consisting of an enviable array of breaks hits (including his own such as “Muffled Mayhem†with Yoof and Gravel Muncha), this label has been instrumental in the shaping of the breaks scene and the launching of some big big names that the scene has come to know and love. Quest’s vision and support for artists such as the Breakfastaz, DJ Mutiny, Odissi and MC Ken Mac have come to make them the household names that they are today.
Quest also reached an important milestone on Cyberfunk in 2006 with the label’s first mix compilation mixed by the man himself called “The Dubplate Files Vol. 1â€. With positive reviews received from all and sundry, he is currently compiling volume 2 for release very soon!!!
In addition to his output on Cyberfunk, Quest has also written huge tracks for other labels, including "Wormhole" (with Odissi) and "Blackhole" (with Ed 209), both on Hardcore Beats, and "Resident" and "Oil Drum", both on Mechanoise. He also co-wrote, with Ben Coupland, the epic "Haunted Gospel" (Botchit and Scarper), a track still popular with many almost four years after its release. He also has had tracks and remixes on labels such as, Supercharged, Botchit, Against the Grain, Lot 49, Combat Wax, Functional and many many more such as the remix of the dnb classic “Back to Your Roots†(by Friction and Johnny L) on Shogun Audio!
As well as DJ Quest the producer, there is also DJ Quest the DJ which is equally as impressive as his production successes. Playing in countries as diverse as Spain, France, Romania, Germany, Hungary, Canada, USA, Russia, Croatia, Finland plus many more. He has played at famous nights here in the UK such as Hum, Trigger, Fuse, Supercharged, Stir, Glastonbury, Glade and many many more in the UK.

BIOGRAPHY
In the male dominated electronic music industry very few ladies hold both the studio and performance skills required to break gender stereotypes and gain the respect of their peers. Odissi however, is one of the rare exceptions. Armed with an unhealthy obsession for the technical aspect of making music, her quirky production style and signature punky vocals have earned her a string of releases on some of the UK’s most prestigious breakbeat/dance labels. (Cyberfunk, Botchit & Scarper, Lot49, Adrift, Audio Bug, Hardcore Beats, Mile High, & Mechanoise to name a few!)
The journey for miss Odissi started in the same manner almost every career in dance music does... behind the decks. Fake ID in hand from the tender age of 16 she held a busy gig schedule playing DnB and Breakbeat across her native country of America in clubs which she was not even legally old enough to be in! In 2004 with her first vinyl signing and the support of Cyberfunk Recordings, Odissi became one of the select few American breakbeat DJs to take their DJ career to an international level with gigs in Spain and across the UK where she now currently resides.
Soon after her move to the epicenter of the dance music world Odissi hung up the headphones for good to pursue the live aspect of performance. Laptop, midi controllers and a microphone in tow there has been no looking back for the feisty producer/vocalist/performer as she has toured her ’one woman show’ with great success on a global scale in the UK, Russia, America, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Croatia and France.
While the breaks scene became familiar with the sound of Odissi’s voice from her first solo release, It can be said she became "hot property" vocal wise after her widely controversial single "Groupie" which was the first time we really got to hear her sharp tongued lyric style in the spotlight. She has since teamed up with some very prominent names in scene, most notably Meat Katie and D.Ramierez for what IDJ magazine listed as one of the top 20 dance singles of 2007, “Stop The Revolutionâ€. A single which even caught the ears of Radio One’s Pete Tong and Fergie and has seen remixes by Dubfire (Deep Dish), Bassbin Twins, Bobby Lorenz and Kristoph, Jamie McHugh and 30Hz. She can also be found as a featuring vocalist on vinyl singles from both Dylan Rhymes and Vandal and on the forthcoming 2nd album from Hyper (with whom she has recently performed with as part of the Hyper Live band for gigs in Malaysia and Serbia.)
2007 also saw the release of Odissi’s first album, "Expedition to planet Zog" - a collaborative effort between herself and Cyberfunk label boss DJ Quest, which in a groundbreaking move in conjunction with IDJ Magazine was the first album in breakbeat (if not dance music) to be given away completely free. And with over 20,000 copies of the publication selling worldwide Quest & Odissi can proudly claim that their "Expedition to Planet Zog" album is in fact the most widely distributed underground breakbeat album to date!
But the ride of course doesn’t stop there! The ringing in of 2008 has brought with it the next phase in Odissi’s quest for musical world domination. Alongside former Pitchshifter and Prodigy guitarist Jim Davies she makes up 1/2 of and lends her production skills and vocals to the new electro rock project "Sex & Circuitry" (www.myspace.com/sexandcircuitry).

Ken Mac is an MC,breaks producer, vocalist and co Label owner from West London. Over the last seven years Ken Mac (Scott ) has released over twenty singles, eighteen of which he has produced and has MC’d at the majority of breaks raves/gigs/parties across the globe from the UK,FRANCE,GERMANY,POLAND,SPAIN,TURKEY,ITALY,USA,CANADA,DA MOON
Ken Mac got into music at an early age via his father Ross, who for a lifetime has been a professional jazz drummer. Being brought up in a musical environment it wasn’t long before he picked up a pair of sticks and started beating skins. In his early teens he played the drums in various bands playing different styles including jazz, funk and hip hop. Not satisfied with just the drums, he learned to play the piano which taught him about melodic elements and structure within a tune. This later helped to develop his song writing skills.
Drum and bass was his music of choice in the mid-nineties. As a youngster his main haunt was a night called ‘Innersense’ at the legendary and very dark Lazerdrome nightclub. After seeing a set by Dr S Gachet and the one and only MC Stevie Hyper D (RIP), Ken Mac then knew ruff and ready music was where he wanted to be! His first step into the music scene was via an up-and-coming DJ/producer Marcus Britnell, aka DJ Quest. At the time, Quest was a new name in the fresh, evolving breakbeat scene and was running ‘Pulse Recordings’ alongside his brother Julian aka J.B. Ken Mac’s first production was with Quest on a pair of singles ‘Egypt’ and ‘Herbal Power’. ‘Egypt’ had full support from many of the breaks DJ’s/ ravers entering Ken Mac into the fast evolving scene as a producer.
At the same time Quest needed a host MC for his radio show on Flex FM and asked Ken Mac to pick up the mic and give it a go (thank-you Questie!). This sparked Ken Mac’s passion as a lyricist and soon the mic became his weapon of choice, although he never could leave the PC alone! Cyberfunk Recordings was the next step for Ken Mac binding forces with Quest running and co-owning the label. Ken Mac’s next release came in 2003 producing alongside the newly found and signed trio soon to be known as the Breakfastaz (pseudonym given to them by Ken Mac). ‘This Way’ (Ken Mac + Breakfastaz) and ‘System Overload’ (Quest + Breakfastz ft Ken Mac) was the release that cemented Mac as an MC/producer. This release helped Mac generate his name in the scene by being regularly played on Breaks FM (Yoof & Bionic – thank-you boys!).
Regularly hosting alongside the mighty Ed 209, Quest, Breakfastaz,Dj Jay Cunning, Dj Mutiny, Yoof,NAPT, Drunken Allstars and MC’s Incyte and Mr Reload on Breaks FM enabled Ken Mac to get an international following. This aided his first overseas booking at the almighty breakbeat raves in Spain, thanks to full support from Spain’s finest DJ Rasco(arrrrriba!!) With the summer vibe rolling, 2005 saw Ken Mac joining the Hardcore Beats camp and produced alongside Ed209 a track called ‘United State of Mind’, followed by ‘Shot Gun Rhythm’ with Control Z and then ‘Hell Yeah’ again with Ed209.(he doesnt just do vocals,he writes the tracks too, people tend to forget this ;)
Ken Mac has released on Pulse, Cyberfunk, Combat Wax, Sub Frequency Funk, Hardcore Beats,Mechanoise,Unstable,Botchit,Cut and Run, and now on his latest production venture ‘PYRAMID’ with Inch (Ctrl Z),thier first single ‘Watts Funkin’ has been snapped up by Unstable Recs and is out now, soon to be followed with more tracks(remixes) on Botchit,Cyberfunk and Unstable under the "PYRAMID" guise.
This year saw Ken Mac being part of the Jay Cunning Kiss FM tour and he has also joined the mighty Atomic Hooligan band as a vocalist/MC. He now has a multitude of residencies including Raindance, Innovation, Essence of Chi, Blast, Vinyl Touch, Read the Crowd to name a few and hosts his very own radio show on Pyroradio.com - Mondays 7-9pm GMT. He has MC-ed alongside just about every player in the scene including Freestylers, Tayo, Autobots,Deekline,Aquasky,Ellis Dee,Dreadzone,Lisa Lashes(hot milf ;)…the list goes on. His regular MC partners are Mr Reload, Miss Trouble, Incyte, Lowqui and Five Alive. Ken Mac is also a part of the Essence of Chi drum and bass family and plays out regularly at their events, which shows his versatility as an MC.
