ESSMAN PRODUCER * COMPOSER * WRITER * ACTOREss Man was born Shelton E. Rivers in Detroit, Michigan. He got his first Production experience when he was 3 years old with his first set of Bongos. Later, at the age of five, he learned to play the drums with a kit he received as a Christmas present. In junior high he became a first string drummer for Ms. McConnell in the school band. This talent and thirst for Rhythm, displayed at such a young age, would follow him throughout his life. Ess Man's first electronic Production was on a Yamaha RY30 in 1995. Because of the inherent limitations of this drum machine, he developed his own production techniques. He soon maxed out his ingenuity and was introduced to the MPC2000 by Passion from Def Squad. His new tools sent his production skills to another level.After creating a local buzz by producing tracks for various Detroit artists including King Gordy, Royce Da 59s group D Elite, Da Dreadnauts, Miz Korona, MU and Dave the Destroyer, Ess Mans production became sought after by national Detroit acts. D12 member Bizarre was looking to find hot tracks for the group when he was introduced to Ess by DJ House Shoes. After lacing D12 entire demo album for Shady records with a new sound Ess became one of the next up-in-coming producers out of Detroit. He would go on to do Good Die Young for D12 World, Hell For a Hustler for Juveniles group UTP, State to State for the Outsiders, seven tracks on the DJ Butter, Shit Happens mix tape, Love You Hate on Slum Villages album Trinity, Armor All on Paradime's album Vices, five tracks for Breed's The New Prescription, five tracks on Proof's Cool Aid Acid Testing and two tracks on the current Searching For Jerry Garcia. Ess Man's latest accomplishments include five tracks on the latest Sticky Fingaz LP Decade and three tracks on Fredro Starr Don't Get Mad, Get Money. He has underground hit's with Tyrese, Methodman and Bishop Lamont. He has scored his first 2 films for Lions Gate; A DAY IN THE LIFE and CAUGHT ON TAPE. Essman has also contributed to CROSSOVER on Preston Films, Def Jams VENDETTA II, and BLADE on Spike TV. The Ess is the Hottest new producer in the industry with plans to take over the game.The platnium producer is the hottes thing coming out of the streets of Detroit.
