Sincere, interesting people who touch me
in a way
that enhances my life journey.
People who are fun loving and have a sense of humor. Life is too short to be gloomy too long or too serious too often!

Two Wolves
An old Cherokee chief is teaching his grandson about life:
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope,
serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old chief simply replied, "The one you feed."
I listen mostly to County music but like most everything. I listen to whatever reflects my mood and/or moves me.

I love good thrillers and suspense movies. Chick flicks and documentaries. An occasional Horror flick or action movie. I love the old black and white vintage movies that relied on plot more than action.

My Watch List:
*most recent to long gone by*
Crash
(*****) Link
Love love LOVE this movie! The powerful subject matter, prejudice, was presented in a no holds barred manner as it told the stories of several couples and individuals, all of different ethnic origin. Every character was presented as a real individual and not sterotyped. As in real live, no one was the person you perceived them to be 100% of the time. I was impressed by the intelligence and perception of the 'hoods' and disgusted by the shallowness of the politicians. The hope inspired by the "good" cop is shattered while the "bad" cop rises like cream to the top when the situation calls for it. The film produced a full range of emotions in me as I watched it, even evoking a few tears and a few laughs. Highly recommend this film!
The Italian Job
(*****)
I love this movie! The plot is suspenseful and it keeps you interested. One of the really good 'heist' movies and another that I love to watch over and over again.
Elizabeth Town
(***)
This movie features actors that I really like, Kirsten Dunst for one and Susan Sarandon. For the life of me, I can't remember who the male lead was... was it Orlando Bloom? Yep, I do believe it was... But the story moves very slowly and becomes very hard to sit through. If you can make it to the end, the last 15 minutes or so are very good. But how long do you want to wait for 15 minutes worth of movie?
Memoirs of a Geisha
(*****)
I really enjoyed this movie. I would like to learn a bit more about Geishas to find out how authentic the story might be, but without concern for accuracy, I thought it was a great tale. I need to watch it again because there were times that it was difficult to determine what was happening. A second viewing would be helpful.
Inside Man
(*****)
Woot Woot! I actually went to a movie in a theatre!! This was an amazing movie... Lots of humor and surprises and kept me wondering all along what the "real" mission was. It's the kind I want to see twice to see what I didn't pick up on the first time. The plans for this 'robbery' were superb! Go see it, don't wait for the DVD!!
Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill
(*****)
A documentary about non-native wild parrots in San Francisco. I enjoy documentaries and this was fun and sappy. We had wild parrots in Seattle that you could set your clock by when they landed in the neighbor's tree each day (7:00 pm). They came back at least three years. One year the tree was struck by lightning and destroyed. They never came back after that.
Flight Plan
(***)
Really hokey, but fun. We all had our theories at the beginning of the film, but we were all wrong. I love it when the movie actually stumps me!
Proof
(****)
I enjoyed this movie, although I felt like I never quite got the answer.
Prime
(****)
My daughter hated the ending, but I thought it has a sweet ending. It wasn't happy ever after, but it was happy for what was.
True Lies
(*****)
This is one of my all time favorites - it will probably always remain near the top of my "Favorites to watch over and over" list.
Just Friends
(**)
I did not expect this to be so stupid! I wouldn't waste my time watching it again, but my daughter loved it. Must be 15 year old humor.
Just Like Heaven
(****)
Okay, I admit it, I like chick flicks. This was just fun & light hearted.
Girl Interrupted
(*)
Maybe it just wasn't my day to watch movies. Watched this right after The Usual Suspects and couldn't get into it, either. Maybe it was Angelina Jolie - ick!
The Usual Suspects
(*)
I couldn't get into it. Might watch it again before it gets shipped back.
The Unsinkable Molly Brown
(**)
I remember it being better. Course I was probably only 10 or 12 years old when I saw it, too.
In Her Sister's Shoes
(*****)
I thought the sisters were going to be different than they were. It was actually more thoughtful than I expected

My interest in books covers many genres. I enjoy fiction the most but I am always intrigued by self help, religion and new age books. Some mystery and detective stories, an occasional biography or historical novel. I also pick up the books my kids are reading and usually find them pretty entertaining.

"The Traveler’s Gift"
by Andy Andrews
"The Unusual Suspect"
by Stephen Baldwin
"The Sledding Hill"
by Chris Crutcher
"Anyone But You"
by Jennifer Crusie
“The Ultimate Gift“
by Jim Stovall
“The Giver“ by Lois Lowry
"A Good Yarn"
by Debbie Macomber.
The sequel to "The House on Blossom Street." The same sort of story with three new characters introduced all with problems and issues to be resolved. This was not as 'dramatic' as the first book and the romance between the shop owner and her beau was not writtden well. However, overall, a fun light read.
"The Lovely Bones"
by Alice Sebold.
A dark story about a girl murdered at 13. In death she can see the world she would have grown up in and narrates the story of her family and friends after her death. It took me a while to get through it. I don't think I would read it again.
"Honeymoon with my Brother a memoir"
by Franz Wisner.
This book had a lot of potential but was too shallow. The author was stood up at the alter and decided to take his brother on his overseas honeymoon. It ended up spanning a coupleof years and was totally life changing for both of them. I felt it read more like their itinerary than a book of tales about the places they visited.
"The Shop on Blossom Street"
by Debbie Macomber.
This is a Washington author and I enjoy the references to the Seattle area, although some of them are incorrect. Sort of like watching Sleepless in Seattle and realizing the characters that just walked around the corner actually transported themselves 5 miles away. The story, however, is okay but predictable. The shop referred to in the title is a yarn shop and the main character teaches knitting classes. The story revolves around her and the lives of three of her customers. A blanket pattern is given at the beginning of the book, so I have begun knitting that blanket as well as reading the book. Addendum: Okay, I was wrong in thinking the book is totally predictable. It's true, all the clues were there but I missed two of them and was a bit surprised by some of the characters' outcomes. All in all it was a fun read.
"Red Lily"
by Nora Roberts.
Book 3 of the In the Garden trilogy. I liked her first two of the trilogy better than this, the last. Although the ghost issue was present in all three books, it took over in the final book. Each book focussed on one of three women working together and the romance developing in her life. The third woman, Hayley, who should have been the featured character in the final book, was more or less just a vehicle for the ghost and her story was less prominent. I liked the first two books much better.
"Mount Vernon Love Story"
by Mary Higgins Clark.
A novel of George and Martha Washington. Apparently this was MH Clark's first novel, originally published with the title of 'Aspire to the Heavens' which was the family motto of George Washington's mother. It's pretty light reading and not very exciting, however, I am learning a lot about George Washington that I never knew before.
"To Kill A Mocking Bird"
by Harper Lee.
A classic that I've never read but my youngest daughter is about to read it for the third time for school!
"Perfect"
by Natasha Friend.
A tween/teen book - not particular worth the time from my perspective. Deals with the binge/purge syndrome but not very insightfully, I thought.
