You have to catch this standup show called "Bananas," which is mocked by cynical personality types. Oddly, I am a cynical personality type, too. But I still like to see kids happy. Also, "Thou Shalt Laugh" comedy DVD series.
First read the Gospel of John. (Its the fourth book in the New Testament.) Then read "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis. Then read "Blue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller. Then read "The Irresistible Revolution" by Shane Claiborne. And if youre still not following Jesus afterward, then read some Charles Gradison Finney. He is an evangelist from the late 1800s who was heavily influenced by philosopher Immanuel Kant, but bearing that in mind, he will annihilate you, so beware.
