Notoriously called “Ro James”, he pays tribute to the magnificent institution of music with his voice by combining emotionally erotic lyrics with classically crisp delivery.
To be compared to any current male vocalist would not detail the true Ro James experience. His vocal styling has been compared to Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, however Ronnie has a style all his own.
Pulling musical influences from the great soulful balladeers of yesterday and reputable musicians of today and mixing them with the international flair of his ethnic background enables Ronnie to captivate listeners from a diverse demographic in a timeless and effortless way.
Ronnie began his love affair with music as a young child in the pews of his father’s church in Harlem, NY. Being surrounded daily by music that meant as much to hear as to sing it, is what convinced Ronnie that he indeed had a connection with melodies that could not be denied.
When asked what separates him from the next talented male vocalist, Ronnie firmly yet shyly answers, “They don’t feel like I feel when I perform. I feel that it is my duty to reacquaint the world with music and what its mission is. Music is made to teach, to heal and to provide hope.
Music is not a gimmick and it is not a trend. Neither am I. I don’t think that there are many others that can truly say the same and live by that philosophy.”
Not one to mince when asked to perform, Ronnie has captivated the ears and attention of many of today’s major music moguls. “I love to be given the opportunity to perform for today’s heavyweights.
It seems as though their reactions go from a polite opportunity to an intense want. They want me on their songs,” Ronnie excitedly states.
The “want” is sure to become a “demand” as Ronnie continues to align himself with fellow producers and musicians that can understand the intensity and beauty in his voice.
