About Me

Ali Eskandarian was born a few months before the climax of the Iranian revolution, on September 11th, 1978, in Pensacola, Florida where his father was being trained as a fighter pilot. Upon the completion of the training Ali and his parents returned to Tehran. The Iran-Iraq war began a several months later which provided many interesting visuals for Ali's and the other children of his generation. After the war's end and Ayatollah Khomeini's death, his family got out of Iran and were granted political asylum by Germany where they lived for two years. After that they moved to Dallas, where Ali went to high school. He attended the award winning Quad C theater program at the Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas, where he studied acting. After honing his acting and table waiting skills for a while in Los Angeles, he returned to Dallas and found work with a film production company which allowed him to travel extensively in Texas. While working on a commercial shoot inside a 3 ring circus in Mexico City Ali decided he'd had enough and planned his move to NYC. His career as a musician was official. He has played all over NYC and toured various cities in the States. Ali’s musical influences are as varied as his life experience: he pulls from jazz, blues, folk, rock, spirituals, country, gospel, pop, world music including Iranian traditional and pop, all Middle Eastern, Indian, African, and classical music.
