About Club80s.com

In the beginning, Michael Jackson moon walked, Madonna considered her virginity, and Tiffany shopped. This made a lot of Europeans very angry so they returned to their punk roots, fusing electronica with a lot of built up angst. New Wave was born.

Club 80s celebrates the birth of New Wave and classic alternative by spinning dance remixes from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. Our future here is so bright, well, we just gotta wear shades. So grab your leg warmers and everybody dance now!!!

WHO We Are

We are the DJs and staff of Club 80s Internet Radio - the 80's remixed!

At Club 80s you will hear extended 12 mixes, new remixed versions, cover versions, live versions, post 80s releases (from New Wave artists), and 80s related or inspired artists. You'll find a collection of up to date news on 80s themes, concert postings, new releases and other information every 80's addict can't live without!

Club 80's is one of the top 80s webcasts on Live365 with over 150,000 listened hours a month (number 8 most listened to station overall in January alone). Not to mention that Club 80's is listened to in over 110 countries. In 2004, it was voted "Best Electronica Station" and in 2005, "Best 80's Station" by Live365 listeners and broadcasters.

We invite you to share your passion for 80's artists and 80's related news by joining the chat area or submitting a news article. Club 80's profiles are free and qualify you for totally awesome prizes!

The HISTORY

Club 80s Internet Radio was born on October 17th, 2000 in Santa Cruz, CA. Lex de Azevedo II, a.k.a. DJ Lex, Father of Club 80's, grew up in Southern California during the 80s listening to a station called KROQ 106.7.

KROQ was the cutting edge modern rock station playing groups like Depeche Mode, The Cure, Oingo Boingo, and Siouxsie And The Banshees. This heavily influenced his musical tastes... and music collection.

"I remember going to a store called 'Licorice Pizza' on Ventura Blvd. and buying my first records: a stack of Oingo Boingo LPs. I use to trace the artwork of the picture sleeves to make T-Shirts in my junior high graphics class."

Lex has been collecting vinyl ever since. In 1998 he realized that vinyl was becoming extinct and started recording his collection to CD. In 2000, he came across a website called Live365 that allowed people to make their own internet radio stations.

"I've been doing radio shows for years, but Live365 gave me the opportunity to have my own station. I knew there were other 80s stations out there, but no one had a station of 80s vinyl mixes and remixes. It seemed like a unique idea."

The rest is history. The Club 80s audience continues to grow. The playlist continues to expand as new mixes are discovered and re-released.

The Club 80s playlist is extremely unique. We've all heard the same 80s songs for the last 25 years. The extended or remixed version gives you a different take on a song, but it still retains its familiarity. In contrast, you may hear songs that are unfamiliar. Don't tune out! Take the opportunity to explore music that you may have missed the first time around.

I'd like to meet:

Our fans, of course! You are the people who make this project so worthwhile. Thank you for listening!

Pre Order scheduled releases (below) by visiting Ideal Copy!

Music:

The majority of music you'll hear on Club 80s is extended mixes and remixes of New Wave 80s. You'll also hear rare and obscure 80s tracks, live versions, and cover versions.

But it's not just limited to 80s music. You'll hear post 80s releases by New Wave artists like Depeche Mode, Erasure, Duran Duran, and New Order (to name a few). Plus, 80s inspired music from indie and electroclash artists like The Postal Service and Felix Da Housecat.

Movies:

Favorite movie? Well, according to our poll, the Breakfast Club. But that's just our opinion. Cast your vote at Club80s .

Television:

Favorite TV? Some of the girls voted for Dallas, but the guys insisted on the A-Team... Meanwhile, a few folks claimed the favorite was CHiPs, but we think it had to do with their nice rides and the fact that some of the actors could actually surf...

Books:

George Orwell's 1984 . Yeah, we know. It was obvious. We also like Totally Awesome 80s : A Lexicon of the Music, Videos, Movies, TV Shows, Stars, and Trends of that Decadent Decade ... But that just doesn't sound as good, does it?

Heroes:

The staff voted for DJ Lex but he insisted he only deserved it if it came with a cash prize...
