About Me

Hi, my name is Shahan
(well that's the Mark Hoppus rip-off done, not that I'm a big fan of his. I like blink-182, and +44 arent't that bad. Anyway...)
I'm of Bangladeshi descent and an unsure Muslim who is very Westernised (hence why I am sometimes jokingly referred to as "white" and "the worst Muslim ever", lol). Doesn't mean I'm not religious or ashamed of where I come from...hopefully not.
I'm 18 years old, whether I act like it is questionable.
Now doing A-Levels at City Of Bristol College, next year I might be doing a degree at uni.
Living in Long Ashton, just outside Bristol. Always have since 1989!
I feel that I have a lot left to achieve and do in my life, and I shouldn't rush but not wait for it at the same time.
My music taste is all over the place (but stull rock-based), from metal to indie, punk to alternative...and very little emo (but only in a guilty pleasure way). I have over 100 albums, and the number is always increasing. As much as the idea of having your whole music collection on one device such as an iPod sounds good, I would rather have music on CD than downloading it. SAVE THE CD WHILE IT STILL EXISTS!
My personality has elements of nerdiness, (comic) genius, humour, alleged creepiness, alleged vanity, sexual inneundo, and "digging holes for myself", which can often lead to me going too far, mostly for the better, in my opinion.
I love giving the wrong impression, just because it creeps the fuck out of everyone, and I find the expressions in people's faces amusing. If it backfires then I messed up.
When it comes to most social situations, I'd rather be the guy standing out and saying something different than the guy in the background saying nothing at all...that is if I can be bothered.
My top friends list doesn't actually determine which friends I like more...just which ones (that have MySpaces and) I normally see a lot and/or talk to online.
My ambition in life is to become a well-known rockstar-like musician and/or a comedian; anything I can be a showman in..but not so much for the fame. I currently write in the college magazine, I guess that's a start.
I don't think I'll ever be considered perfect or as someone else's trophy.
MOST OF THE TIME, I'LL BE MY USUAL HAPPY-GO-LUCKY SELF, SO I'LL BE EASY TO TALK TO...BUT WOULD YOU WANT TO LISTEN?
LIKES
= The live music scene e.g. gigs/festivals. What I lack in the stuff I've done in my life, I make up for it by the many bands I have seen.
= Going to the cinema, having popcorn + drink, then coming home and having a curry. Or dipping a KitKat or similar chocolate into a hot chocolate then eating it afterwards. Those feelings in my mouth are amaaaazing!
= Being with my friends, who don’t mind me for who I am...I think :P
= The concept of football chants.
Political Scandals, it makes good news, or a "good day to bury bad news".
= When I see couples, most likely those I don't know personally, arguing. It just makes me happier, possibly because I've never had to be in such a position.
= My physical appearance. Yes, I'm fine with it. I've lost a lot of weight (without trying) over the years, and despite my height (5'7"), I know it's a bit short for a guy but it's alright for a Bangladeshi guy.
= How easy it is to mess with cats' minds, but later forgive them by cuddling them and patronising them, lol.
= When people tell me they've met people who are more weirder than me.
= When my actions and/or words are the most shocking in the room, even if I am the only one there.
= Situations when the only person laughing is myself.
IF YOU WANNA LOOK AT OTHER STUFF I LIKE, THEN LOOK AT THE GENERAL BOX UP LEFT, STUPID.
HATES
= Giving, or thinking of giving, your, erm, love, to someone who doesn't give any back, possibly because they are already committed or just don't want to be. Dammit I hate it when that happens, you think you've found the right person only to be proved wrong! And this has happened to me my whole life! And I don't want to have an arranged marriage (if that happens) and realise I missed out on actual love! Ah fucking hell!
= Peer pressure can influence me too easily. But I try not let it to.
= When I see couples at gigs; and doing stuff like holding hands or making out! For fuck's sake, you don't do to a gig for a date, you go for the music! Shakespeare is a fucking idiot for saying "if music be the food of love, play on"...because it's not! Well, not the music I'm usually into anyway.
= The fact that I can be too fucking picky e.g. sometimes when people borrow CD's off me, only to find that when I get them back, the jewel cases can break. See, there’s no need for that, is there?
= People, especially most other Asians/Muslims who joke about or can’t accept me because I am different to them.
If people ask me why I don’t do certain things, it’s most likely because I don't want to do them in the first place, not because of my religion. OK I'm not a devout, but I sure ain't no complete sinner! I shall be born again...eventually :P
= When people such as some of my family say that I shouldn’t do stuff like going to parties or go to trips with friends because “English people do that, but we’re not meant to (because we’re Asian/Muslim)".
= When media/random people of the public, and even some friends, remind me of how much it sucks being single, but worse, ALWAYS being single. I wouldn't mind having a girlfriend, but not because I feel pressured to by friends who are all loved-up, and that I only have a girlfriend to say, "compete" with them.
When I have to explain myself constantly to people who don't understand what I am trying to say or do, unless they're suppposed to, that's when it's funny.
= The unreliabilty of First buses.
= Striving to be a better person, physically and mentally, while trying to keep both sanity and normality.
= The fact that I appear to be so unhappy with my life in general despite it not actually being that bad.
= When people call me a "weirdo".
= The British music scene nowadays; pretty much all the new bands suck, and there are too many new bands whose names begin with "The".
= Singer-songwriters! There are too many of them nowadays, it's not cool anymore!
= The fact that I can get jealous about things that don't really matter e.g. not being invited to a party but loads of people I know were etc, unless there was a good reason
= Windows Vista!
I’M SURE THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS I HATE VERY MUCH, HOWEVER I’M TRYING TO HAVE A POSITIVE OUTLOOK ON LIFE SO I WON’T THINK OF ANYMORE RIGHT NOW. AND BESIDES, MY OPINION PROBABLY WON'T BE IMPORTANT TO YOU

My Interests

THE TWO BIGGEST INFLUENCES ON ME ARE MUSIC AND COMEDY
BUT I’M ALSO INTO...
• Being a "MySpace whore"
• Being part of the live music scene
• Being with friends/attempted socialising
• Cats...chasing them AND playing with them, not at the same time though
• The city of Manchester (even though I’ve never been there), especially most of its music, and the whole ‘Madchester’ vibe that seems so great via the media
• eBay!
• Food that isn’t meant to be good for me
• Football (I'm starting to get into it again. Thank you Iain!)
• HOT CHOCOLATE!!! possibly the only reason why I go to Starbucks
• (Lack Of) Asian lifestyle/Religious Influence
• Life/Personal Decisions etc, the shit you think about when you’re down/sad
• Money, or my unfortuante love/greed of it
• Most TV Commercials, especially the clever ones
• Movies, likely from Hollywood/Western culture. I do not like Bollywood at all
• Music Videos/Watching music channels like MTV2, Kerrang! and Scuzz
• News/Current Affairs
• Novelty songs e.g. Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire”, Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing”
• Retro TV idents e.g. BBC2’s from the 90s
• Retro videogames e.g. Crash Bandicoot, Tekken
• SEXUAL INNEUNDOS!
• The influence of the USSR, especially its National Anthem (whatever it means, but the music kicks ass!), and how it seems ‘cool’ to me, particularly due to the media, somehow
• SUBWAY: I love the Meatball Marinara!
• Watching television, but I’m no couch potato
• and of course...MOI! I don't consider myself a narcisist but there are times where I love myself too damn much!

http://s 8 3. photobucket.com /albums/j287/manics1985 is my Photobucket (take out the spaces)

Here is my YouTube

I'd like to meet:

...apart from the obvious (that being someone to spend my time with, bla-bla-bla and all that crap), there are so many musicians, comedians and actors whose work has had a massive influence on me that I would like to meet; the list would go on for ages should I put it on here...ah I’ll name a few; Dom Joly of Trigger Happy TV fame, James Dean Bradfield from the Manics, Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, and Dustin Hoffman from...The Graduate and Midnight Cowboy (well he’s been in a lot of films lol).
And of course there are several cartoon characters, such as the Greased Up Deaf Guy from Family Guy, Denzel Crocker from Fairly Odd Parents, and Johnny Bravo from…Johnny Bravo, that I wouldn’t mind meeting, because of their different yet comic personalities and thinking how cool it would be to have met people like them. Problem is, I’m not a cartoon character...yet I act like one.
Oh...and Boris Johnson MP, he’s probably the funniest, legendary politician ever!

Besides, click here to see the pictures of me with those that I HAVE met...

I have also met (but not had pictures with, and in chronological order):
MC Lars,
Russell Leetch from Editors,
BURTON C. BELL FROM FEAR FACTORY,
NOEL FIELDING FROM THE MIGHTY BOOSH,
Iwan & Frost from The Automatic,
Tom Schofield & A.J. Cavalier from SOiL,
Chris Burney; Erik Chandler & Gary Wiseman from Bowling For Soup,
MANIC STREET PREACHERS,
Johnny Na$hinal; The Colonel & Percussion World from Electric Six

...and this is the stuff they signed for me...as well as setlists/plectrums etc I've gotten from gigs
