Rico Montana

This Houston Native was born October 27, 1985. Raised in a single parent home by just his mother and grandmother. As a child, he lived in Third Ward and later moved to Missouri City with his mother, where he began to experience hardship. His mother worked longed hours to provide for him so Rico spent a lot of time on his own. Times, was hard for him and his mother because his mother had no help supporting him. This led to behavior issues. His mother realized how angry Rico use to be and did not understand why. So she signed Rico up for little league teams to keep him occupied. Rico was an athlete before a rapper. He played sports from elementary up until his sophomore year in high school, where a confrontation with his coach led him to leaving the basketball team. Then he decided to take rapping serious. He then began to write lyrics instead of just free-styling. He used music as a tool to vent and express his feelings. He began to grow as an artist and as a person. By his first year in college, Rico decided that school was not for him and rap was his gift in life.
