About Me
Camilo Castaldi arrived to live in Chile in 1990 from Germany , already influenced by the surging hip-hop scene that was consolidated in Europe.
Within a few years he becomes part of los tetas , obtaining a gold album for the sales of their debut album Mama Funk ( EMI 1995 ) . The band also earns the APES award in the category of revelation of the year . Songs like Corazon de Sandia , La risa del Diablo , and Hormigas Planas become popular hits achieving a high rotation on Chilen radio stations as well as Latin American MTV.
Their Funky sound combined with rhymes and DJ scratches takes them through diverse scenarios along all of Chile , while the single Cha Cha Cha ( EMI 1996 ) positions itself at the top of chilean rankings.
They would then take refuge in Melipilla , on the outskirts of the capital ( Santiago ) , to concentrate on what would be their second LP La Medicina ( EMI 1997 ) which demonstrated more maturity and a better sound. Prominent songs from this production are La calma and La Medicina.
They then travel to New York & Los Angeles, to work on what would become Independiente ( 1999 ) which was later re-edited and published in Chile the following year.
At the end of 2000 , Tea Time enters the studio along-side the German producer Atom Heart for the recording of the LP XXX ( Rather Interesting 2000 ) , released in the European and Northamerican market.
In 2003 Los Tetas move to México to record Tomala ( Sones del Mexside / Universal 2003 ) which is edited in USA , México , and Chile . Thanks to the hit I like they play in venues all over Latin America such as : Vive Latino ( México- D.F. ) , Rock al Parque ( Bogota Colombia ) , Festival Quilmes ( Paraguay ) and other shows in the USA , consolidating themselves as one of the top Latin American bands .
Soon afterwards Los Tetas separate , marking the beginning of Tea Time´s solo career.
During his stay in the United States he participates at various shows alongside artists such as : Tego Calderon , Julio Voltio , Pitbull , Ivy Queen , Wisin and Yandel as well as shows in Chile with : Afu-Ra , Red Hot Chili Peppers , Cypress Hill , Lenny Kravitz , M. Manson , Control Machete , Los Pericos , Los Fabulosos Cadillacs , Los Divididos , amongst others.
He also collaborated on other artist´s recordings ; Paulina Rubio´s Pau-latina ( Universal 2002 ) , Gustavo Cerati´s Bocanada ( Universal 2004 ) , Don Abusivo´s De hotel a hotel ( Machete / Universal 2005 ) as well as the mega-selling Pal Mundo (Machete / Universal 2005 ) of the reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel which has sold over 3 million units on which he appears on the hip-hop re-mix of the No. 1 Billboard hit Rakata .
During 2006 ( In Los Angeles , Cali. ) he records a song for Sugar Free as well as another song for Mopreme Shakur´s album ( Tupac Shakur´s brother ). He returns to Chile in order to prepare for his solo debut , hoping to release it at the end of the present year.
