It all began in 1996 when I discovered my passion for writing songs. They were your typical boyfriend crush, I Love Him type of songs. Then I soon developed a huge passion for writing poetry. Being that I had a lot going on all my life, like having a mother with BiPolar Disorder, I used writing as a tool to relax and yet vent out my emotions. It was hard dealing with that knowing my mother was in and out of hospitals, which meant my precious grandmother was where I resided on and off growing up. Most of the time my poetry was about relationships, love, sex, and even regular topics, as well as hurt and pain. I used some of my hurtful experiences to make that into rap. That's what gave me my drive to be so emotional with some of my lyrics. But I still didn't step into a recording studio, it wasn't that serious to me back then in 1999. I never really envisioned myself as a performer or rapper so to speak. I was always a SHY girl growing up, I'm still shy but once people heard my poetry and raps, it was like I turned into another person. Soon I was developing a flow and learning how to use wordplay in my poetry and the few raps that I wrote. Poetry was like an addiction to me, just coming up with something hot to recite to my friends at that time. I used to love getting mad because that was the basis behind some of my poetry. The better I got writing raps, the more serious I would feel about trying to make it in the industry. It was in 2003 when I came across an old high school friend of mine when he asked what was I up to at that point. I told him just trying to model, write poetry and hopefully find a studio to record some of my songs. That's when he gave me a card with a few guys he worked with that happened to be producers. I gave them a call, spit a few bars and they was loving me. Soon they made some hot tracks and I wrote my first for real song with hook and all. To me that was the most exciting! Then finally I went in there and record a few songs which soon turned into my first album called Like It Ruff. We so bad wanted make this work and get my face and name out there. I never was able to find a manager and things were looking downhill for me. I wanted to give up, but we kept recording. Sending demo after demo to major labels no one has yet to sign me at all. Most importantly for now, I just want to be heard on the radio and hopefully perform a show in the future. My album Like It Ruff was listed on CDBABY.com. Now you can currently hear it on such sites as Napster...MSNmusic...iTUNES...as well as AOLmusic. Please be on the look out for another FEMALE RAPPER/POET from ST. Louis. Overcoming so many obstacles along the way made me realize maybe this isn't for me. But I still won't give up, since I KNOW THE RIGHT EARS WILL HEAR ME SOON!Myspace For Girls Only - MyGirlySpace.com
