Don't Blame It On Me Blame It On My Wildheart

About Me

Hi :-) I'm an old time rock n' roller! I love dancing and music, all kinds of music, but rock and roll, some funky ole' soul, and the blues is what I dig the most. I work as a QC Analyst. I am divorced with one step daughter. She and her husbands band are on My Space having fun. I have one cat named AnnaBelle and she is my entertainment and my companion. You'll see her here. She's a show off ;-)
..
Turn this player off before you view the videos so the music doesn't clash, unless you like it like that :-)

Mothers Finest back in Funk Rock Georgia all funked up and rockin the Fox morning show...If you missed it, check it out right here as they talk about entertaining our troops on Memorial Day at GITMO in Cuba

RADIO!!!
One of my favorite stations, right here in my hometown. An ecletic blend of the local talent and all the players that I love.
WSGE 91.7 FM Gaston College Radio They have stopped fund raising for now, but you can help them out any ole time.
Today's Quotes:
Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

Srimad Bhagavatam
There have been many times in my life that music has given voice to thoughts I could not, and that's one reason why I love Stevie Nicks lyrics so much. Usually where ever I am, there is going to be some type of music going on. I listen to music almost everywhere I go. It is a great part of me and I wonder, who played the first note. So I googled Gabriel, hahahaha!!! This is what I found this morning, among other things, but this writing made me smile so big. I hope you can appreciate it as well. Its too long to post here, so just click this and thank you Gabriel for always practicing your horn. GABRIEL

Funk Talk Theatre
By Skip your Funktologist
We all know that music can be a powerful influence! A case in point is what happened June 2 on the radio show “A Funk Above The Rest”! (KUVO 89.3fm, 11pm-1am) Two associates of mine, LJ Harker and Big Charley heard me humming the lyrics to a particular song. Because of one of the phrases, they looked at me as if to say, “there’s no such lyrics”. I told them I will play the song Saturday night, just listen. At the predetermined time, I launched the track! It is from a Funk Rock Band out of Atlanta Ga, called Mothers Finest! As the chorus made its ascent, I could just picture in my minds eye the reaction of those who heard it! The chorus goes like this: “sometimes I find myself acting, just like a NEGRO! Its from a 1992 release titled “Black Radio Won’t Play This Record”. Sure enough, the phone started ringing. The first caller said, “sometimes I find myself acting, just like a MEXICAN”! The second caller, &l! dquo;sometimes I find myself acting just like a White Boy”! Third caller, “sometimes I find myself acting just like a WOMAN”! And the last caller that I took said Skip, I’m going to say the N word… I paused for a moment, then he said - “sometimes I find myself acting, just like a NORWEGIAN”! Well, I guess that just about covers everyone. Sometimes we find ourselves acting, JUST LIKE A HUMAN!
Sometimes I find myself actin like a Negro, its in the blood.

AnnaBelle

We are odd indeed To think that we alone of all God's creatures are worthy of recognition for I am certain beyond question that when the last day arrives, our company will swell with fox, raven, hare, and rat and when we are finally admitted we will see sharpening her nails upon His most resplendent throne, God's favorite unrepentant calico cat.

Music:

Local Talent (to be continued)
The Carolinas have plenty of it

This band is relatively new on this scene and already there is buzz about it. They play with feeling, drawing from their spirituality, and what goes on in their world around them. The bands space is a work in progress, so please continue to check it out.

I heard somebody say "if you don't feel something when this woman sings, check your pulse". And someone said "if you find someone at a Mothers Finest and they are not shakin sumthin, call 911".

This is a work in progress...Its all about the local talent that influenced my life...The great players that made me dance my a$$ off, and sing along... Alright, here we go. The Flares take the stage:

and props to the the "girl in the band" that was kind enuf to update me on some of the great players..She let me know Michael Keck is alive and rockin, doing theater and just any old thing he wants to do! (thank you Lord)....shes not local, but she might as well be...Brodie's Downhome Cookin' is up next:
My all time favorite local band. I have many, but these guys were just special.. They did everything right. They had the moves. And they went to the "Black" clubs to learn the new dances and so did I. In 1967, I remember Joe Dow (hes in rock and roll heaven), James Bates, and Sonny Smith up front with the moves and the harmony..They had rhythm and they had soul. I remember Bill Stewert, Ronnie Gittens, Ronnie Bailey, and Monk Ghant, Ransom...I know I am forgetting someone, this is a "to be continued kinda thang" so they will get their props...Some of them are still doing their thing today and doing it damn good too ;-) ~Sho bop sho bop Share My Name~ I found this site on the net. My sweetest and clearest memories are of "Joe Dow and The Spontanes" and from that an evolution took place........I lost count..Name changes, player changes...Harley Hogg and The Rockers...cool man, dig :-) and James Bates and Cracker...I don't know who is where now, but all I can say is "try to tie together some connections, gets some horns, picks and sticks, and get back out on the road again...We love you. The Spontanes
To be continued This space is reserved for The Magnificents, The Counts, The JayDees and more..If anyone has info on these bands, let me know please..Brodie did her good deed for the day. Thank you so much!!! :-) Rock and Roll never forgets.

Movies:

The Rose, Gone With The Wind, The Color Purple, The Devils Advocate, Midnight In The Garden Of Good and Evil, The Ten Commandments, Lady Sings The Blues.

Television:

CSI Las Vegas, Lifetime movies, Discovery Channel, The News (not talking heads, just the factual news of the day) and anything about music or musicians. But I really don't do a lot of television.

Books:

Anything with big print.
Heads up on this book, this is a very good read. Taking you back to a time you can feel, a very emotional time and the winds of change were blowing in 1968. It could parallel these days in time. And I think its time for the winds of change to blow once more

Heroes:

I believe there is a hero in everyone.

I'd like to dedicate this little space for all the men and women who serve and protect and who have fought and died for our freedom. Be it in Iraq, Korea, Afghanistan, in New Orleans, Germany, the Coast Gaurd, the Policeman in your city, anyone who has ever come to your aide while you were in harms way or even when your heart was breaking. I'll try and change the pictures everyday, and I'd like to have the names of these heroes. You can mail me a picture of a hero if you'd like to see them honored here and I'll do my best to do just that.
