Gaining a reputation as a solid and unpredictable live act, Dekannen is fast establishing itself as one of Perth’s finest live acts, playing alongside the likes of Dead Letter Circus (Qld), Hope Here Gone, The Meaning Of, Pyromesh, Sleeper X, In a Moment and Dogs of War. Combining the musicianship of technically progressive bands with the interesting and intricate melodies of more "pop" and "alternative" oriented outfits, the Dekannen sound has been turning heads and pricking ears since hitting the scene in 2006. The local press has described the band as an emotion-charged outfit "....commanding elements of dense, down-tuned phases that stab at the musical soul of their listeners and band alike" – The Drum Media, 2/11/06. With influences ranging from The Beatles to the Deftones to Tool and Meshuggah, the band has a sound that is their own and is constantly evolving. The band recently completed a successful tour of Western Australia in support of their debut EP "Portrait" produced by WAMI nominated producer Adam Spark (Birds of Tokyo, Hope Here Gone, Crysis). Editors note - They also have a soft spot for stupid jokes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Captain Planet. And they still listen to Michael Jackson.

"Its f**king brilliant! it’s on high rotation here at the moment.." - Dan Beard, Space Ship News
