About Me

The sky is not the limit, it is just the beginning. Olive Demetrius' artistic expansion found its beginnings in literary realm. Her writing is a visceral snapshot of time and space. She was published in the Brooklyn College series Day of the Poet Vol 1. in 1998. Since then she has graced the stages Rush Arts, A.I. R Gallery, SisterSpace and was featured on the radio station WBLS-WLIB on the program Global Village. She is a fresh voice that captures the visual and spiritual on the page. The next logical step of course was visual art. She studied film at Hunter College. Olive Demetrius was no average student. While in the midst of her studies she became a certified rape crisis counselor, raised funds and awareness for survivors of Hurricane Katrina and spoke city-wide on the issues affecting crime victims in the city of New York. Olive Demetrius also was a part of the team the shot Bringing Venezuela BackÂ. Shot on location in Caracas, Venezuela and outlying provinces, this piece was the definitive document of the 2005 World Festival of Youth and students. Olive Demetrius also served as cinematographer for international recording artist Hanifah WalidahÃ¢??s video Make a Move. This video premiered nationally on MTVNetworks LOGO December 2006 and stayed for 6 weeks on their countdown series the Click List. Lokk for her work on iLoveUPeople.com
