About Me
I am a constant work in progress and always looking to learn, grow, and find new ways to express myself creatively. I am quite shy at first, but really love to joke around once I open up, and on stage I am completely at home. I am positive and optimistic and grateful for my life, and try to surround myself with likeminded people.
I am a native of Colorado and have been dancing since I could walk. I have tried several different styles of dance, all of which I love, but none that speak to me the way flamenco does. Flamenco is the one dance form I have found where I can really express all I've got inside; from the joy and excitement, to the dark hardships. I study the history and the culture as much as possible, and try to stay true to the tradition of the art.
I studied under Triceea Bienvenida for two years, at which point I was encouraged to study under Flamenco guitar maestro, Rene Heredia. I immediately joined Rene's company as lead dancer and was given the name "La Churumbela", meaning little Gypsy girl.
For the next three years I performed at many prominent venues throughout Colorado, including Boettcher Concert Hall, Montrose Performing Arts Theatre, Lincoln Center Fort Collins, Swallow Hill, Colorado Convention Center, and as lead Gypsy dancer in Opera Colorado's "Carmen" at the grand opening of Ellie Caulkin's Opera House.
Outside of Colorado, I have performed for sold out audiences in San Francisco as part of the Four Season's Concert Series, and in the Las Vegas Hilton. In 2006, I began performing weekly at Buenos Aires Grill. I am currently working on a commercial with Johns Manville, teaching Flamenco technique classes, and sewing Flamenco costumes. I have also recently taken classes and workshops throughout the US, in St. Louis, San Francisco, and Albuquerque, and will be going to Spain in several weeks to study, which I am so excited about!!
