dsteele composer / arranger / producergiven his strong understanding of the emotional power of music dsteele sets the stage for the mc who needs to be heard... he epitomizes the post-funk composer/arranger/producer... building from the past, preserving, providing a standard for the future of urban music.dsteele came to know hiphop by way of the early 80s chicago house music scene. this was a time when music was music. religiously he followed the hot mixes that covered artists from cymande and blondie to stevie wonder and idris muhammad. he then began dj*ing, creating his own soul-stirring mixes, introducing anything and everything that would lift the spirits and blow the mind of his audience.as the music grew more synthesized and routine, dsteele searched for richer sounds to blend … more soul … more jazz ...more fusion ...more latin …more movement.he felt the strength... he was moved by rakim. and when he heard gangstarr’s ~ manifest~ ...man!but when he bought ~ three feet high and rising ~ the circle was complete. all that he knew and loved in music became one and his future - limitless.upon entry into college in 1989, dsteele would be in a constant struggle in his quest for happiness * music or education.always the visionary and achiever, dsteele found a way to do both. he mixed and hosted a local radio show, ~89 point deep~ while occasionally rocking a party and producing several dance tracks that made waves in chicago as well as japan.in 1994, he pursued his masters degree at the university of chicago studying biblical law and egyptian spirituality.in 1996, he graduated and began teaching and mentoring black youth. at that time he also started purchasing the tools to fulfill his dreams.by 2001, dsteele held down residencies at several of chicago’s hottest night spots spinning an eclectic blend of bossa* jazz *funk and soul through the voice of hiphop … dsteele had found his way.he has produced several tracks for chicago hiphop artists *singers and poets and is currently working on a project with one the city’s premier mc’s. all this while he continues to educate and develop programs for our youth. dsteele has the ear for and the understanding of music coupled with a love for the exchange of mc to beat.when it comes down to it dsteele’s for real.ModMySpace Profile Customizer
