About Me

BO!!! I'm Dave Curran (aka Dave Skywalker in the rave scene and around the various forums), and I'll tell you about myself in 60 seconds or less cos I know you're busy, like:
I was born in Oxford, UK, and was brought up in Bicester until I left school (which I didn't really like), and went to College (which I loved). Then went to Bournemouth University (loved it more) and graduated in 2000 before moving back home for a bit. Moved around a bit and ended up in Northampton for a year or so before buying a house in Milton Keynes where I now live, love, and call home with my fiancee Shaz. A massive part of my life is the rave scene - mostly hardcore / breakbeat, but also dnb, techno, gabber, and a bit of funky house, breaks, all sorts. Been into it since I could walk pretty much (bought my first record - Steve Silk Hurleys "Jack Your Body" in 1985 aged 7) and I've been DJing since 1994, playing out properly since 2003 at events such as Vibealite, Bedlam, Moondance, Raindance, Hysteria, Bangface etc.
I've also released a few tracks and the like - check em out over on my main site at http://www.daveskywalker.com .
For "the day job" I'm a software project manager and work on Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, UK. Been doing that since 2000 and really enjoy it. What else? I'm interested in Urban Exploration, Philosophy, Health, Technology, Cars, Films, the usual bloke sort of stuff! So that's time up is it? Arse.

My Interests

PS2, Films, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Dance Dance Revolution, anything in the dance music scene, raving, going places, my friends, my car, trying to do stuff with my house and garden and failing, more raving, Oz, South Park, The Amazing Race, going out some more!

I'd like to meet:

God. Buddha. Anyone who has influenced the lives of thousands of others and I'd like to ask them if they considered the implications of their philosophies.

Music:

Techno, Hardcore, Gabber, Drum n Bass, Jungle, Breakcore, Breaks, Trip Hop, Hip Hop, Chillout, Lounge, Classical, Ambient, Chill, Experimental, IDM, and some "normal" stuff like Feeder, Coldplay and that ilk.

Movies:

American History X, Donnie Darko, Event Horizon, Charlies Angels (S'all about Drew!), The Grudge (US version), Human Traffic, The Hills Have Eyes (new version).. and lots more.

Television:

South Park, 24, Oz, Heroes, The Osbournes, The Amazing Race, Badly Dubbed Porn, Lost, random stuff on E4, MTV and Paramount Comedy. And my girlfriend is making me watch Americas Next Top Model. I suppose it ain't all bad...

Books:

Anything by Bill Bryson, most philosophy material, the fabric of the cosmos if I can spend enough time getting to grips with it, and ANYTHING by Bill Watterson - bring back Calvin and Hobbes PLEASE!

Heroes:

I don't believe in seeing a celebrity as a hero, or anyone really for that matter. If you have survived a challenge or gone through a difficult stage of your life and haven't given up you've done well and more than some, but you're not a hero. If you do something well, then you've got a skill - and well done for finding it.

Loved ones.

Sometimes I hate music. The way it gets inside you and pulls on emotions so quickly and suprisingly scares me at how powerful it is. Have you ever seen Equilibrium? There's a scene where the main cha...
